Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation Review

Hi everyone :)

Double Wear from Estée Lauder has been a firm favourite of mine for a good couple of years now and I haven't even looked at another foundation since discovering it. I have quite oily skin so I struggle to find a foundation that stays put and won't go patchy after a few hours and Double Wear has been the only one I have used that has actually lasted all day on my skin.

However, a friend of mine was raving about the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation and saying that it was an absolute must have so naturally I got curious. As I am very picky with foundations I got a sample from the Urban Decay counter in Debenhams so I could try it out before splashing out the £27 it costs. I got two days worth out of the sample foundation but I was left hooked so I went back the next day to buy it.

There are 18 shades available and I ended up getting 3.5 which is quite pale but a perfect match for me. My mum decided to get one too but she struggled a little more with matching up her skin tone but eventually went for shade 7. The coverage is fairly light with this foundation but it can easily be built up with a couple of layers which I thought would be perfect for when I'm on holiday and want something a little less heavy in the day but more coverage for the evening.

It has a semi-matte finish which I love as it looks really natural and provides a subtle glow without being too shiny or oily looking. It also dries really nicely and doesn't feel sticky or mask like on the skin, which I'd say is one downside to Double Wear (you can really feel that you have makeup on). The foundation did stay put quite well through the day but not quite as well as Double Wear. As I mentioned earlier though my skin is oily so it would probably last all day on someone with combination or drier skin.

Overall I am really happy with the Naked Skin foundation and think it is a good one for the summer. I'll probably revert back to Double Wear for the winter and it will always be a firm favourite, but I'm glad I have found another foundation that can give it a run for its money!

Have any of you guys tried the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation? Which other foundations would you recommend?

Thanks for reading :) xx

Sensationail Red Scarlet Gel Polish

Hi everyone :)

As you may have read in my past post I have recently bought the Sensationail starter kit so that I can use gel polishes at home. I am loving my new kit but the only downside is that I am now addicted to buying new colours to try out! This one is the one I got included in the kit and is called Scarlet Red; It's a bright, pillar box red and is a fab colour for summer. I love putting gold glitter on the accent nail to add a bit of sparkle as well :)

If you would like to read more about the Sensationail Starter Kit, you can read my full review of it here :)

Inecto Pure Coconut Hair Repair Treatment and Hair Serum Review

Hi everyone,

Years of straightening and bleaching my hair seem to have finally taken its toll and it is now very dry and has thinned quite a bit. I have been trying to grow it but without much success so I am in constant search of products that will help improve the condition of my hair.

A friend at work recommended these Inecto Pure Coconut products to me and I have to say I was a bit skeptical at first. It's not a product or brand I have heard of before and at only £1.49 they are definitely on the cheaper side. Not all cheap products are bad products though, as I learnt from Sudocrem Skin Care Cream, so I went ahead and gave them a try.

All the Inecto hair products contain 100% pure coconut oil which is said to be one of the best natural moisturisers as it has a high moisture retention capacity. I have tried Argan Oil many times before and I love Moroccan Oil. However, Coconut Oil is a new one for me as I haven't tried any products like this before or heard much about them. I have to say I have been really impressed with both the hair treatment and the serum and they are definitely ones which I will be buying again!

To use the hair repair treatment you simply apply to damp hair, leave for 3-5 minutes and rinse. After use my hair felt so lovely and soft and it looked really shiny as well. I use the serum mostly on towel dried hair and then leave to dry. Again my hair feels so soft and it looks much healthier after using this product too. I have also applied it to the ends of my hair once it has dried to help define the curls a bit. It doesn't make it look greasy in the slightest, which I thought it might and it makes my hair feel lovely and silky. Both products smell absolutely delicious, although I feel like it’s more of a vanilla smell than coconut but that might just be me!

I would highly recommend the coconut products and for such a bargain price you can't really go wrong. I picked these up at the Bodycare shop and they also had a leave-in conditioner and shine spray which I think I’ll be trying out next!

Have any of you guys tried the coconut hair products? What did you think of them?

Summer / Holiday Essential Products

Helllooo,

As we are having such lovely weather at the minute and my summer holidays are fast approaching, I thought I would rustle up a quick post on my summer essential products :)

-          Revlon Pro You Texture Scrunch Curl Enhancer (£12)

As my hair is naturally curly, the slightest bit of humidity will send it into a massive frizz frenzy! There is no point in even trying to straighten it on holiday as it will start to go curly as soon as I step out the door and by the end of the night I’m left looking like I have been dragged through a bush backwards. I’m really not a fan of mousses and the wet look they give you so my hairdresser recommended the Revlon Pro You Texture Scrunch as a good alternative.  I really love this product as it defines my curly hair more whilst keeping the frizz at bay. It also looks really natural and doesn’t make your hair look wet or greasy at all. I would definitely recommend this for those of you that have curly hair and want to ditch the straighteners in the hot weather :)

-          Dove Summer Glow Gradual Tanner (£2.49)

I love this product for summer as it builds up into a really natural looking tan whilst moisturising the skin at the same time. The paler option didn’t work too much on me so I tried the darker one and my tan came out really nice and not orange in the slightest. It also fades really naturally and doesn’t come off in patches like some fake tans do.

-          Bourjois Bronzing Primer (£9.99)

I bought this primer a few weeks ago after a friend recommended it to me and I have never looked back since. The mousse-like texture means it blends in really well and adds a subtle, bronzed glow to your skin without looking too over the top. I have written a full review of this product here if you would like to read more about it :)

-          Benefit One Hot Minute (£23.50)

As I have fairly pale skin, a lot of bronzers can be too dark for me and make me look quite orange. I was sold on this product when the assistant told me it would ‘give me an Eva Longoria glow’ (I know I’m a sucker for marketing) and it would make my tan look really natural. I have to say this product hasn’t disappointed and it’s one that I would buy again and again. Now I’m not saying it has transformed me into an Eva look-a-like, but I do think it gives me a natural, healthy looking glow and makes my skin look more radiant and bronzed.

-          Sinful Colours Nail Polishin 24/7 (£1.99)

I love the bright pink colour of this nail varnish and think it is lovely for summer. I have been using it non-stop and also mixing it up a bit by using the L’oreal Nail Confetti over the top as well. I have written a NOTD post on this polish here if you would like to take a look.

-          Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose (£2.25)

Finally, my favourite lip balm this summer has been the Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose. I get really dry lips so it is essential for me to keep them moisturised and use a good lip balm regularly. I really like the Raspberry flavour of this lip butter and it leaves my lips feeling soft and hydrated in no time!

So there you have my favourite products to use during the summer and on holiday. I think the main theme seems to be keeping my skin hydrated and bronzed from looking back at the products I have chosen! They are all ones which I would recommend and would buy time and time again.

Which products are you always reaching for in the summer or on holiday? Have you tried any of the ones I have mentioned?

Thanks for reading xx
