October 2014 Beauty Favourites

Hi everyone,

I haven’t done a favourites post for quite a while now so I thought that it was high time that I got round to writing one and sharing with you the products that I have been loving this month.

First up is the Bourjois Rouge Edition lipstick in colour number 14 Pretty Prune. This is a bit of a different shade for me as I usually pick the girly pink colours but I have been loving the deep red shade of this lipstick for Autumn. I have been using the Avon lip brush to apply this lipstick to make sure that I get it really neat looking as the slightest mistakes show up so obviously with it being so dark.

Next is a product that I have rediscovered in my makeup stash and that is the Benefit Powderazzi palette. I don’t think this set is available anymore as it came out around Christmas a couple of years ago but the individual Box-O-Powders are all still available to buy. I have always loved Coralista and have the full sized version but it’s the Dallas powder that I have rediscovered most recently. In the past I always used it as a bronzer but didn’t think the shade quite suited me but I have been using it as a blusher throughout October and think it looks much better used this way.

This nail polish was part of a gift set from Marks and Spencer that I received last Christmas but I have recently dug it out of my collection. It’s a super girly, bubblegum pink shade and I have been wearing it with a glitter polish on an accent finger to add a bit of extra sparkle. I feel like Marks and Spencer have really upped their game in the beauty stakes recently and I have bought quite a few fab products from there in the past few months so I would definitely recommend a mooch round if you haven’t already.

I have repurchased this body wash from Marks and Spencer so many times since originally getting it as a birthday present back in January. The scent is sweet orange and petitgrain which I just love and my skin always feels lovely and hydrated after I’ve used it.

Finally another product that I have been using non-stop is the Nivea Daily Essentials Sensitive Day Cream. I have quite sensitive skin and love this product as it contains no parabens, colours or fragrance and it has helped keep my skin really soft when the cold, windy weather would normally dry out my skin no end.

Some new favourites and some old discoveries this month but I have been using all these products so much throughout October. Which products have you been loving this month? I’d love to read your favourites in the comments box or leave a link to your October favourites posts :)

Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Native Review

Hi guys,

If you saw my last Urban Decay review you will know that I have been collecting the Naked Flushed palettes and I have fallen a little bit in love with them. As I am using them almost every day at the moment, last week after a particularly busy and stressful day I decided to treat myself and get the next one on my list, Native.

I’d say Native contains the lightest shades out of the four palettes and features:

-          A bright, cool toned pink blusher which has a matte finish.
-          A light, pink shimmery highlighter
-          A medium shade bronzer which has a slight shimmer.

The blusher needs to be applied with a light hand as it is quite pigmented and can look slightly clownish if you’re not too careful. However if you apply it lightly it can give a lovely, natural flushed look to the cheeks. The highlighter contains a much finer shimmer than the Strip palette which has larger more glittery looking chunks. For that reason I do prefer the highlighter in the Native set for an everyday look as it blends easier and is more natural looking. The bronzer also has a light shimmer but applied with a Duo Fibre brush it gives a gorgeous glow to the skin that can be built up as required.

I have now collected all of the new Naked Flushed palettes and only have the original left to buy. I really like all of them so far and have been alternating between them but if I had to choose a favourite overall I think it would be Strip purely because it contains the most Autumnal shades and is perfect for this time of year. I will have to try the original Naked Flushed soon though to see if it can knock Strip off the top spot!

Have you tried any of the Naked Flushed palettes? Which is your favourite?

Thanks for reading :)

Benefit Brow Zings Review

Hi everyone,

To follow on from my last post where I spoke about the Benefit Brow Bar, I thought my next post should be a review of the Benefit Brow Zings which is what I have been using to fill in my brows recently.

Obviously when I got my brows waxed I was talked into buying the Brow Zings as I'm a sucker for any new products that I can try and any marketing spiel always works ridiculously well on me! Brow Zings contains a wax, powder, mini angled brush, mini shader brush and mini tweezers all for £24.50. To use it I press each side the angled brush into the wax and then do the same in the powder. If I'm going for a particularly strong brow that day I'll repeat. Then I just use the angled brush to get the shape before using the shader brush to fill in the rest of the brow.

I found the set so easy to use and my brows looked really natural but well groomed and I was able to get a perfect shape using a mixture of the wax and powder together. I chose the light shade (there is also medium and dark shades available) and the colours really suited me well and didn't look too over the top. I have some pretty long days at work which my makeup has to contend with but the Brow Zings had no trouble keeping up and my eyebrows always stay looking perfect until the end of the day.

This is one product I thought I didn't need and for years I have been using a simple Rimmel brow pencil but now I can't imagine being without it. I definitely think it's worth the investment and I have been told the palette will last me around two years so I can't complain if that's true.

Have you tried the Benefit Brow Zings? Which other brow products would you recommend?
