January 2015 Favourites

Hi everyone!

So January has almost been and gone and it’s that time again to collect together all my favourites for the month :)

This month my major discovery has been Lush! I’m so late to the party with this one it’s unbelievable but at least I got there in the end! The bath bombs and bubble bars are amazing and I have spent January sending my boyfriend loopy and driving up the water bill with the amount of baths I have been having. If there is anyone left out there has yet to try the Lush products go and do it ASAP, you won’t be disappointed.

The Lush Superbalm has also been a saviour for me this month. I think I have had some sort of reaction to a hair product that I have been using as my scalp has become really dry and sore. It could just be the cold weather that’s affected it but I have never had any problems like this before which is why I’m leaning towards it being something that I’m using. Anyway I went into Lush and found this balm which has just been amazing! I think I will do a full review of it in the next couple of weeks when I have tried it out for a bit longer so keep an eye out for that.

The lip product that I have been using the most throughout January has got to be the Dior Lip Glow Balm which I got for Christmas. I love this product and have been reaching for it every single day. If you would like to know more about it I have written a full review here.

My next most used lip product is this lipstick from Maybelline in colour 158 Power Peony from the ColourSensational Rebel Bouquet collection. This is a gorgeous, bright, Barbie Pink colour which I just love and is a welcome move away from the dark, berry colours that I have been wearing throughout winter.

Finally I have really been enjoying using the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub. I use this in the morning for a refreshing wake me up and it leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft, not to mention is smells delicious. It gently exfoliates the skin and helps fight blackheads and spots. I don’t suffer too badly with my skin anymore but if I do get a breakout then I always reach for this product. A little goes a long way with this one as it lathers up well and at £3.29 it’s a bargain too.

So that’s it for my January favourites :) Which products have you been loving throughout January? Leave your recommendations in the comments below as I love discovering new things to try.

Not On The High Street Make Your Own Lip Balm Kit

Hi everyone!

This afternoon I have been making my own lip balms using this fab set from Not On The High Street which my boyfriend bought me for Christmas. I loved the look of the kit when I opened it on Christmas day and thought it was a really nice touch that it was personalised with my name of the front of the box.

The kit includes everything you need to make your very own lip balms including:

-          Shea Butter
-          Beeswax
-          Cocoa Butter
-          Almond and Calendula Oil
-          Flavour (mine was strawberry flavour)
-          Lip balm pots

They are so easy to do as you simply melt the Shea Butter, Beeswax and Cocoa Butter together in a bowl over hot water and then stir in the Almond and Calendula Oil. Once it is all completely melted you take the mixture off the heat and add in the flavouring. After making sure you have mixed it all together well, just pour the mixture into the little tins provided and wait for it to set! And that’s it, you have your very own homemade lip balms!

I love that it is so simple and fun to do and I get something that I will use loads at the end of it. I’m still waiting for the lip balms to cool but I will try them out over the next few days and get back to you with a review on how well they work.

What do you think of this gift idea? Would you like to make your own lip balms?

Lush Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar Valentine's Day 1015

Hi everyone,

As my Lush addiction continues, today I have one of the bubble bars to review from the 2015 Valentine’s Day collection. Unicorn Horn is a fun, rainbow coloured bubble bar containing a mountain of stars and glitter! It looks so pretty and it smells amazing with a combination of Lavender Oil, Ylang Ylang Oil and Neroli Oil. Lavender is my favourite scent for bath products as it is just so calming and relaxing so this bubble bar was always going to be right up my street!

Unicorn Horn crumbles easily under the water and the colours swirl together to settle on a very pale pinky cream colour. I was expecting it to turn the water a brighter colour with perhaps a little glitter in it so I was slightly disappointed when it went more of a neutral shade. The stars and glitter also disappeared instantly which on the one hand is good as it doesn’t get all over you and the bath but on the other hand is a little boring. I broke the bar in two to get more use out of it and although it didn’t bubble up a huge amount, it was enough for me and I would rather have less bubbles and get two uses out of it.

Aside from the original fun design of this bubble bar, the scent is my favourite thing about this product. It is so relaxing and is the perfect antidote if you have had a stressful day and need something to calm you down.

Overall I love this bubble bar but what would make it perfect for me is if it turned the water a bit more of an exciting colour. This is definitely not the be all and end all but if I was being picky then that is what I would say.

Have you tried the Unicorn Horn bubble bar? Which other Lush products would you recommend?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx
