March 2015 Favourites!

Hi everyone,

Now March has been and gone it’s that time again to take a look back at the products I have loved using over the last few weeks. This month some are new products and some are old favourites that I have rediscovered.

1)  Benefit Roller Lash (£19.50)

I first tried this mascara when I got a free sample in Elle magazine and knew pretty much straight away that I would need to buy the full sized version as soon as it came out! You’ve all probably heard so much about this product as it has quickly become a beauty favourite amongst bloggers and vloggers but I definitely think it lives up to the hype. My lashes look longer than ever and have amazing curl after I’ve used this mascara and I just can’t get enough of it.

2)  Eyelash curlers

Linked to my first favourite, the second thing I have loved using throughout March is eyelash curlers. There’s no particular eyelash curler that I prefer at the moment and it’s more the rediscovery of using them that I have liked. I used to use eyelash curlers all the time but then went off them and thought they were an unnecessary step in my makeup routine. However, more recently I have started using them again and can see that they make such a difference. I am using the ones I got in a Birchbox one month but I’m tempted to splash out on the ever popular Shu Uemura ones.

3)  Tanya Burr nail polish in Riding Hood (£5.99)

This is another product that I rediscovered towards the end of the month. I really fancied going a bit vampy with my nails and love this deep red to get the look.

4)  Esteé Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer (£21.50)

I am a huge fan of the Double Wear foundation so I decided that I might as well try the concealer too and see how it fairs in comparison.  I have to say I have not been disappointed and the concealer is now a firm staple in my makeup collection. I love that it completely covers any blemishes or discolouration without being too heavy or cakey and it stays in place throughout a long day at work!

5)  Wax Lyrical candle in Fresh Linen (£9.00)

I love the fresh, clean scent of this candle and you can really smell it when it's burning. There’s not a huge amount to say about it but if you’re a candle addict like me and then this is a perfect one for spring!

Which products have you been loving this month? What do you think of my picks?

Clarins Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction Cream

Hi everyone,

Skincare has been the main cause of my bank balance hating me over the last few months as I have really been trying to look after my skin better. A couple of months ago I decided that it was time to invest in a new moisturiser as Simple’s Kind to Skin just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I’ll be honest, I didn’t do a lot of research and this was more of an impulse buy one day on my lunch break from work but I had always been interested in trying some Clarins products and had heard such good things about their skincare range.

The assistant recommended that I try the Multi-Active Day Early Wrinkle Correction Cream as now that I am 26 it is time to take preventative measures against those early signs of aging. This cream claims to fight the effects of tiredness, pollution and UV damage to leave skin feeling lovely and smooth as well as hydrated and more youthful looking. I wasn’t sure at first as this cream will set you back £42 but I was feeling impulsive and if it really does do all the things it claims to then it’s well worth it.

I have now been using this cream at least two months and I really do like it. You only need a tiny amount to cover your entire face; I’m about half way through my pot which I think is so good for the amount of time I have been using it and the fact that I use it every day. It has quite a thick and creamy texture but it doesn’t sit on the skin or leave it feeling too greasy and I noticed an almost immediate difference after using this moisturiser over the Simple one. My skin had a lovely glow to it straight away and felt so much more hydrated than before and the feeling lasted all day rather than just a few minutes until the cream has sunk in. I have seen much more lasting results from this product than I thought I would with my skin feeling and looking in much better condition overall.

There is a fairly strong scent to the moisturiser which I think might put some people off and I was worried as some perfumed products do irritate my skin. The scent is difficult to describe but I’d say it was a bit like talcum powder or an old lady smell as my boyfriend described it as! I haven’t had any problems with irritation since using this moisturiser though so I don’t mind too much about the fragrance and it does wear off once the cream has sunk it.

The only criticism that I have of this product is that I would prefer it to come in a tube rather than the pot style packaging. I just find it a bit unhygienic sticking my finger in it every day and I can also see it being difficult to scoop out once I’ve used a bit more of it up. Other than that I have no complaints and I will definitely be repurchasing this cream once I have used it up; not bad for an impulse buy!

Have you tried this or any other Clarins products? Which are your favourites?

Lush Mask of Magnaminty Review

Hi everyone,

So my skin has been having a bit of a nightmare recently and I have been trying anything and everything to get it back on track. In my search for a saviour product I went into Lush and asked the assistant which face masks she would recommend and this lead me to buying the Mask of Magnaminty.

I didn’t want a fresh mask as I knew I would just put it in the fridge and forget about it and I didn’t want to have to use it up by a certain date either. Mask of Magnaminty contains peppermint oil to help cool and invigorate the skin, honey to moisturise, kaolin to cleanse and ground aduki beans to exfoliate and won't go out of date for a good few months. There is a strong minty scent to this mask which I think it lovely and refreshing and it feels so cooling and slightly tingly when you apply it. I leave it on for about ten minutes after which point it dries and goes tight on the skin and then I wash it off to reveal super soft and extra clean skin.

I think out of all the face masks I have ever used this has helped my skin the most and I could tell a difference pretty much straight away. It felt like my skin had been given an extra deep cleanse and it looked glowing and revitalised again. I will definitely be repurchasing this face mask and I hope Lush will bring out more masks which aren’t fresh ones and will keep for longer.

Have you tried the Lush Mask of Magnaminty? What did you think of it?
