Cosy Winter Wish List

Cosy Winter Wish List

Hi everyone,

As winter is fast approaching and it’s getting darker earlier, I have been loving nothing more than snuggling up with a fluffy blanket, lighting some candles and a enjoying a nice, cosy night in. I have also had my eye on loads of things that will make my evenings even cosier so I thought I would put them all together in a wish list to share on here and maybe even give you guys some ideas for Christmas presents!

What do you think of my cosy night picks? What are your essentials for a winter night in?

Homeware Haul

Hi everyone,

As we have recently moved into a new home, I have obviously been going a little overboard with my homeware shopping and buying things to make the place our own. I always love reading other people’s homeware hauls so I thought I would do one of my own and share with you a few of the things I have been buying….

This is one of my favourite things that I have bought and is from Ikea. As with everything from there you have to buy all the bits separately (I even had to put the fairy lights together!) but it is definitely worth it and I absolutely love the cute copper fairly lights as they shine little stars on the wall when they are lit.

To go with the fairly lights, they also had matching candle holders at Ikea so of course I had to get them as well. The two look really nice together when they are all lit up on a cold autumn evening and make the room look lovely and cosy.

I have gone a bit over the top with buying candles and candle holders but I couldn’t resist these lanterns which are also from Ikea (I feel like I have been living there recently!). They have the same cut out star design on the top and I have had so many people asking where they are from since I got them.

Something that isn’t from Ikea but still on the candle theme is these candle holders from The Range. I can’t remember how much they were but they were pretty inexpensive and I just love them.

Back to Ikea again with this jug and flowers. The jug was on offer reduced from £14 to £10 and the flowers were just £1 each. I think these inject some much needed colour into our living room which is mainly grey and white.

Last but not least is this cute little plaque which I bought from a lovely gift shop when I was in the Lake District. My boyfriend hates any sort of plaques with sayings on them so this one has been banished to my dressing room but I think it makes a lovely addition to the house.

And that’s pretty much everything so far that I have bought in the last couple of weeks. The majority of it is from Ikea but that’s where we have bought a lot of furniture too and you can get some really great ideas from there.

Where do you like to get your homeware inspiration? What do you think of the things I have bought?

Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Blonde Review

Hi everyone,

The Benefit Gimme Brow has been one of my favourite eyebrow products for a while now, but at £18.50 for a tiny tube I’m always really reluctant to buy it. That’s why when I saw the Maybelline Brow Drama for just £4.99 at Boots I was so excited – I had found a dupe! Or so I thought anyway.

Unfortunately I was disappointed from the first time I tried this product. For me, the main problem with it is the wand as I really don’t like the ball shaped end to it. The bristles seem much too long and therefore barely any product is transferred onto your eyebrows.  I also found that didn’t have as much control as with the Benefit Gimme Brow due to the applicator being so much bigger. I did actually try to cut the end of the wand off so that it would leave the smaller section that’s more like a traditional mascara wand but as it is wire I found it really difficult and ended up giving up before I ruined the whole thing completely. I might give it to my boyfriend and see if he can do it as I really think with a better applicator this product could be great.

The formula seems a little wetter than the Gimme Brow but I didn’t mind that too much and it does dry quite quickly and doesn’t smudge at all during the day. There are four shades available including a transparent option but I decided ‘dark blonde’ suited my colouring the best. I like to use a brow mascara, especially when I’ve just had my eyebrows waxed and tinted, as I feel like you can achieve a more natural look and if you can get the application right then this product can give you the same effect.

I have read some great reviews of the Maybelline Brow Drama so maybe mine will be a little controversial but for me this product just didn’t do the job. I like something that’s more precise and fills my eyebrows in a bit more but I do think if the applicator was different then I might like it better.

Have you tried Maybelline Brow Drama? What did you think?
