Hi everyone and happy New Year!
The beginning of a new year always
brings with it reflections on the year that has passed and although 2015 was a
good year, it brought many changes along with it. I thought a post looking back
at my year as a whole would be a nice thing to do and help remind me of
everything that has happened by bringing it all together in one place.
I think the first thing that stands
out from last year was my holiday to New York with my boyfriend, Tom, in May.
It was somewhere that I had always wanted to visit and it completely lived up
to my expectations, if not exceeding them. It was just like being in a movie
and I would love to go back really soon. The things that we did that stood out
the most were going on a helicopter ride over Manhattan and the view of the
Empire State Building from Top of the Rock which was just breath taking.
After our trip to New York, we went to
Norway in June for a friend’s wedding. This was another place that I have
always wanted to go to so my boyfriend and I decided to stay a few days in Oslo
afterwards so that we could spend some time sightseeing. The countryside is
beautiful and so picturesque and I also loved the harbour in Oslo.
In between our holidays to New York
and Norway my boyfriend and I bought a house together and we moved in at the
beginning of September. We had previously been renting a flat but after four
years of this we decided it was time to buy. The house didn’t need a lot doing
to it but we wanted to put our own stamp on it so the first we weeks were taken
up decorating and buying new furniture. There’s still a few bits and bobs we
would like to do and the next big task will be painting the hallway but I’m so
pleased with the progress that we have made so far. Today we also finally got
our phone line sorted after 4 months of waiting! Hopefully we should have the
internet up and running in a few days which will be a massive relief; I don’t
know how we’ve lasted so long without it!
The same week that my boyfriend and I
moved house, I also started a new job. It was a bit hectic and stressful doing
both at the same time but it all worked out in the end. I had previously worked
in retail but at the start of the year I had decided it was time for a change.
It’s such hard work looking for a new job but perseverance is key and I’m so
glad that I made the change.
December this year marked the ten year
anniversary for me and Tom and to celebrate we went for a weekend in Edinburgh
just before Christmas. We don’t usually celebrate anniversaries but as it was a
bit of a mile stone we thought we should do something to mark the occasion.
Edinburgh was lovely and there were so many Christmas things going on, it
really got me in the festive spirit.
Christmas this year was a little stressful
with the floods that we had on Christmas Day and Boxing Day but we were so
lucky that so many of our friends and family were willing to give up their days
to help. Without their efforts the water would certainly have made it into our
home but thanks to them nothing was damaged. I know we were very lucky in that
sense as not everyone was the same and my thoughts are with anyone who has
struggled with the floods over the last few weeks.
One thing I have to mention in this
post is the addition of two little new members of the family! For Christmas my
boyfriend bought me two little Mini Lop bunnies which I have called Bluebell
and Billy. They are so cute, even if they can be a bit of a handful at times,
and I love them to pieces!
I’m not sure what 2016 will bring but
if it is anything like last year then we will be very lucky. I haven’t really
made any New Year’s resolutions apart from to finally do the beauty course that
I have wanted to do for years now! Apart from that though I just plan to work
hard and enjoy the journey!
What are your plans for 2016? Have you
made any resolutions?
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
You had a marvellous 2015, Hannah and I hope 2016 would be equally brilliant if not better for you. And it's so lovely to finally see Tom making an appearance here, congratulations on 10 years, that is a huge milestone especially when most people barely survive 5 years. xx
