Beauty Favourites 2015

Hi everyone,

Looking back over 2015 it has been a bit of a mixed bag with many ups but also a few downs. Overall I have to say it has been a good year though, even if I don’t know where the time has gone! I have tried more than my fair share of new products, some which have been huge hits while others have been way off the mark. So while I’m reminiscing on the year gone by, I thought I would share a few of my top beauty products from 2015 in today’s post.

In 2015 I didn’t stray very far from my two most loved foundations, Estée Lauder Double Wear and Nars Sheer Glow. I have gone through phases with these two, switching between them depending on how my skin was looking but they are both by far and away my most used and most loved products from last year. Similarly, I haven’t really stuck with many other primers other than MaxFactor Facefinity which I must have rebought around six or seven times now. I like that it has SPF 20 and as someone that makeup usually slides off, I think it really makes a difference in helping my makeup stay in place all day.

Concealer wise, I have been reaching constantly for the Estée Lauder Double Wear as it has high coverage and easily hides any redness or blemishes. I can’t see anything matching the Double Wear concealer and foundation combo for me anytime soon but if you do have any recommendations for products that you think might compete, please let me know as I would love to try them out.

In May last year my boyfriend and I took a trip to the States and of course my suitcase came back mostly filled with new makeup and beauty products to try. One of the stand out products that I bought was the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector which has become one of my Holy Grail products over the last few months. I love applying it under my foundation or mixing it in to get a lovely, natural glow to my skin and adding another dimension to my makeup. Another product which I brought back from New York was the Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water. I love this for removing my makeup at the end of the day and making my skin feel fresh and clean. My boyfriend’s sister is heading back there this year and I will definitely be asking her to bring some more of this home for me.

For hair care, 2015 has been all about the Orofluido Oil. Gone are the days of splashing out of Moroccan Oil as this stuff works just as well, if not better and helps keep my hair in tip top condition.  I use it on wet hair by just running a pea sized amount through the ends and it makes my hair feel so silky and smooth as well as helping to keep frizz at bay.

Last year I finally branched out from using the Clinique Almost Powder Makeup and discovered that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a powder for it to be really good. One of the best I found was Rimmel Lasting Finish powder which has been great for keeping the shine at bay and help setting my makeup in place. On top of this I have used the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palettes constantly and love all four options that they have. They are really great for travelling with or throwing in your handbag for touch ups throughout the day as they aren’t bulky and contain a bronzer, blusher and highlighter.

This year I also decided it was time to take care of my eyebrows a bit more and have been getting them regularly tinted and waxed at the Benefit Brow Bars. I then love to use the Benefit Gimme Brow to fill them in on a day to day basis as it is just so quick and easy to use. It gives your brows a lovely defined look that’s still natural and not too over the top.

Finally, in 2015 I have experimented so much more with eye makeup and have really enjoyed creating some new looks and playing around with different eyeshadows. One of my favourite palettes has been the Benefit World Famous Neutrals palette which is great for creating a natural, day time look or building it up for a more dramatic eye for a night out.

Which have been your stand out products of 2015? Have you tried any of the ones I have mentioned?

I hope you all have a wonderful 2016 that’s filled with lots of love and happiness!

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  2. The Naked Flushed palette has been making an appearance as many beauty bloggers favourite and now I'm starting to wonder if I am missing out on something special. And gosh, no kidding about the Sephora triple cleansing water, I honestly miss it and it was my go to back when I was in Malaysia and Sephora was just around the corner of my office. It's harder for my to purchase here in Canada because the nearest Sephora is 3 hours drive away. I could get online but I am soooo anal about buying anything through online. LOL!

  3. @Shireen L. Platt Oh you really have to try the Naked Flushed palettes! I bought all 4 I loved them so much and that's really rare for me as I'd usually prefer to try something different. I don't know what I'm going to do when my Sephora Triple Cleansing water runs out, it really is about time Sephora opened a store here in the UK! x

  4. I've been tempted so many times to try the Nars Sheer Glow even as far as added to my basket online but I'm not 100% sure yet. I think I might go for the purchase now to see what it's all about :) x
