March 2016 Favourites

Hi everyone,

March has been a funny month; I feel like it has gone really fast but then when I look back to my boyfriend’s birthday on the 1st it seems like such a long time ago. Not a lot has happened or changed other than it was my last month working part time before I go back to full time hours next week which is going to be a bit of a shock to the system! I’m just keeping focused on all the extra pennies which of course means more shopping :) Anyway, enough of the rambling and back to today and my March favourites post.

First up this month I have fallen in love with the Clinique High Impact mascara. It’s one that has been in the back of my mind to try more for a while after having a few samples of it in the past and this month I finally took the plunge and bought the full sized version. I have written a full review of it here if you would like to read more about it but it’s safe to say it is up there with my favourite ever mascaras.

I have been using Bio Oil since around Christmas time on my forehead and chin as I have a few acne scars that I would like to try and minimise. I thought it would make my skin really greasy but I apply it in the evening before bed and wash it off in the morning and I have had no problems. Over the last few weeks I have started to notice an improvement in my skin and even my boyfriend has commented on it so that’s when you know it must have made a difference! I’ll definitely carry on using it and would highly recommend it for anyone with scaring that they would like to try and reduce. I know it’s not going to get rid of it completely but it has certainly helped.

I was given this perfume for Christmas by my mum and instantly fell in love with it. At first I only used it on special occasions as I thought it was too nice for every day but recently I have been reaching for it more and more. There’s just something about wearing a nice perfume that gives me a little pick me up and makes me feel more put together. I go into more detail about the notes and things in this post if you’re interested to read more.

I have struggled with really dry skin this winter, a lot more than usual, so have been on the hunt for products to help. The Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion is one of the few products that has really helped keep my skin hydrated and soft and has had more of a long term affect. This tube was only £5.09 (randomly) as well so it’s not going to break the bank.

After seeing the new limited edition Nars Laguna bronzer this month, I rummaged around my makeup drawers and dusted mine off again. Throughout winter I have been using a lot less fake tan and bronzer so it had been neglected for a while and kind of forgotten about. However, I needed to go down a shade in my Double Wear foundation but the trouble was that there is a big jump between the shade Fresco which I was using and the one below. Now my new one is a bit too light and Laguna has been great at adding a bit more life to my skin and also for creating a little contour every now and then.

Which products have you been reaching for this month? I feel a bit stuck in a rut and want to try some new things so please leave your recommendations in the comments and I will check them out :)

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

Happy Easter!

Hi everyone!

I did have a post lined up for today but it was work related and I figured the last thing on most people’s minds over the Easter weekend is work. Those of you that aren’t off I feel your pain after spending many years in retail! Making sure I had something nice to look forward to on my next day off was always made me feel better about working over bank holidays as I know it can be hard work. Anyway I decided to shelve my work related post for another time when I’m in less of a holiday / relaxing mood!

My Easter weekend has mostly been spent decorating the hallway in our house (what a very rock and roll life I lead!) and preparing for an interview I have at work next week. I have used some annual leave so don’t go back to work until Wednesday and have made my boyfriend promise that we will have a nice day out, hopefully involving some shopping! I’m in the mood for a bit of retail therapy and would like some new beauty products to try (all in the name of research of course) so please leave your recommendations in the comments!

Anyway the main point of this post was just to wish all of you that celebrate it a Happy Easter and hope you’re enjoying your weekend :) I will be back to normal with my usual posts on Wednesday.

What have you been up to this Easter weekend? Have you done anything special?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

Soap & Glory Endless Glove Review

Hi everyone,

The Soap & Glory Endless Glove hand cream has always been a favourite of mine. I tend to get really dry hands, especially in the winter, that are sore and bright red and this product is one of the only things that helps. I hadn’t bought it in a while though as one tube seems to last ages but when I last picked it up a few weeks ago I noticed that the formula had changed.

This new formula seems a lot less thick which I was generally pleased about at first as the other one was quite a bit thicker than most hand creams. I always put this down to it being more of a hand mask though which you are meant to apply over night with moisturising gloves. However, I never used the gloves as it just felt weird to me to wearing them in bed and the cream still worked fine without them. The new version feels more like a normal hand cream and is absorbed into the skin much quicker and without as much rubbing in. To me this is a good thing in some senses but does make me feel that it has moved away from its original purpose of being a hand mask with deeper moisturising properties than a general use hand cream. Although it’s still a great product, I have found that it hasn’t completely got rid of the dryness on my hands like it used to which is disappointing.

Endless Glove contains macadamia and grapeseed oils, pomegranate and shea butter and smells lovely, although it’s not as nice as the Soap & Glory Hand Food! The packaging is cute too as is pretty much always the case for Soap & Glory products.

Overall this a great hand cream and better than a lot that I have used but I do feel that it has lost a little something with the new formula. If anyone else has noticed this please let me know in the comments below so I know that it isn’t just me going crazy!

Hannah xx
