Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion

Hi everyone,

My skin type is oily combination but I would say recently my t-zone has been particularly oily. It can be so frustrating to get to lunch time and find your makeup has slid half way down your face and is looking a lot more worse for wear than it did when you left the house. On top of that oily skin can mean you're more prone to acne which I have had my fair share of over the years. That's why when I discovered the Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion I thought it would be worth a shot.

NOTD OPI Chick Flick Cherry

Hi everyone,

Firstly, I hope you like the changes to my blog so far! I recently decided it was time for a change and I'm really excited for the new look to come together. There's some more things which will be added over the next few weeks including the addition of some colour to brighten everything up a bit and also a new logo. Let me know what you think and I hope you'll all bear with me if some things are a bit out of sync for the time being.

Fall Favourites Tag

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re all having a great weekend :) I was tagged by the lovely Shellen from A Blushing Beauty Blog to do the Fall Favourites Tag. I like to do a tag every now and then as I think they are a great way to find out more about the blogger and get to know them a little better. So let’s get started!

Favourite Eye Makeup

I tend to wear really neutral colours when it comes to my eye makeup but I do like to add a bit of sparkle, especially over the festive season. My favourite palettes at the moment are the Urban Decay Naked palette and also the Tanya Burr Hollywood palette as I love the shade Enchantment which is a gorgeous sparkly gold. For mascara I am currently using Benefit They’re Real but I do swap and change around, all I know is I like lots of it and creating big, full lashes!

Favourite Lip Colour

I really love a red or berry lip for autumn. I have loved Bourjois Shine Edition in Grenade In for a couple of years now but the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 01 is a more recent favourite. Bright shades like these can be a bit high maintenance so if I’m in the mood for something more low key, my go-to lipstick at the moment is Rimmel Kate Moss in shade 55 My Nude. I have to admit it was the cute packaging that I was drawn to first but thankfully the lipstick inside is just as pretty!

Left to right: Bourjois Grenade In, Rimmel Kate Moss 01 and Rimmel 55 My Nude
Favourite Nail Polish

This is a tough choice for me and if you read my latest nail polish collection post you’ll know I have a fair few to choose from. If I had to pick I would go for Jessica in Blushing Princess as again berry shades are a staple for me in autumn. I'd also choose OPI Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry collection as you always need a bit of sparkle!

Favourite Scent

Blackberry and Bay from Jo Malone every time :) This scent just reminds me of Christmas and it is one of my all-time favourites, not just for autumn.

Favourite Accessories

I am a bit of a scarf hoarder and have collected probably one or two more than I needed to. The two in the photos are my favourite cosy ones that I have been wearing all the time since the weather turned colder. I’m also in love with this cute, faux fur bag which I bought a couple of weeks ago from Primark. It was only £7 but I can see I will use it so much over autumn and winter.

Favourite Drink

I’m not one for going to Starbucks and Costa a lot for the festive drinks, although the Black Forest Hot Chocolate from Costa has to be one of my favourites. I did try to recreate it at home but it just wasn’t the same and I actually ended up giving myself stomach ache with all the syrup I added. I have also recently taken a liking to a mocha and my boyfriend went a bit crazy last weekend when a ton of hot chocolate and espresso coffee machine pods turned up at home!

Favourite Show

At this time of year for me it’s all about Strictly Come Dancing! It’s just an all-round feel good programme and I’m really enjoying it this year. I also like watching X Factor but I haven’t got into it as much this time. I’m not sure why but a few people have said the same to me recently.

And that's it! I just tag anyone that reads this post and feels like they want to give it a go. I hope you have enjoyed my fall favourites let me know if you do decide to do it yourself as I'd love to read your posts.

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

Nail Polish Collection - The Berry Series!

Hi everyone,

One thing I am truly guilty of is buying too many nail polishes. I have always had a fascination with nails, nail art and all things related and I am blaming my mum for this one! When I was little I would always go with her when she got her nails done every few weeks and so it was drilled into me from a young age to always have a pretty manicure. I often put up NOTD posts sharing with you my latest purchases but the lovely Shireen from Reflection of Sanity gave me the idea to do a nail polish collection post (thank you Shireen!). Now if I was to do this all in one go we would all be here for a very, very long time so I’m going to split it up into a series in order to break it down a bit. Seeing as autumn is well and truly upon us I thought I would start with the berry shades which I am just in love with at the moment.

Left: Avon Midnight Plum, Right Boots No.7 Damson Dream
Left: OPI but annoying the name has rubbed off so I'm not sure what it's called I'm afraid. Right: Boots No. 7 Queenie
Left Barry M Magnet in Burgundy, Right Avon Delux
Left Jessica Blushing Princess, Right Topshop Matte Nail Polish in Mystic
Left: Marks and Spencer Nail Polish in Hot Pink, Right: Avon in Pink Radiance
Last but not least, Barry M Pomegranate
As you can see, with nail polishes I am not at all brand loyal and pick ones from a mixture of different places. If I have to choose though, some of my favourite nail polishes are made by Barry M, OPI, Jessica and Essie. Barry M are great for super cheap polishes that are still good quality and they have a huge choice of colours. Although you may pay more for the likes of OPI, Essie and Jessica here in the UK, I really think they are worth it and they will last you so long and the formulas are really good to work with.

I hope you have enjoyed this post. Let me know if you would like to see more in this series and if so which colour groups you would like to see first! Also is anyone else finding it so difficult to get good lighting for photos now the clocks have changed?? These were taken in the middle of the day in the conservatory so there's tons of windows but they are still a bit dark! If anyone has any tips for taking good, light photos at this time of year please let me know! :)

Which are your favourite nail polish brands? What sort of shades do you usually go for?

Thank you for reading and I hope you’re all having a great weekend :)
