Rimmel #Insta Flawless Review

Hi everyone,

I absolutely love my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector but it is a little on the pricey side for what it is and therefore I begrudge wearing it on a daily basis just to work and things. That’s why when I came across the Rimmel #Insta Flawless Perfecting Skin Tint for £6.99 at Boots I thought I may have found the perfect cheaper alternative.

The aim of the product is to give skin a natural looking glow and erase any signs of fatigue by brightening and lifting the skin tone whilst also providing 24 hour hydration. There are two shades available, a light medium and a medium dark, of which I picked up the lighter option.

The first thing I noticed was that it is important to use only a small amount to avoid looking a little orange or too glowing! A little goes a long way and if you get it right your skin really does finish up looking fresh and luminous. I don’t think it is a product that I would wear alone as I find it makes me look a little greasy but under my foundation I think it gives just the right amount of glow. I have oily combination skin but those that have very oily skin may find this to be a little much for them.

I was worried that a product like this would compromise the amount of time my makeup stayed in place during the day but I have to say I didn’t notice any significant difference when using it. As far as the moisturising aspect of the tint goes, I wouldn’t say that it provided 24 hour hydration although, like many people, I have never worn my makeup for a full 24 hours to test it completely. It does feel smooth and soft on the skin but it didn’t give a great deal of hydration. For me however, this wouldn’t be the main reason for using the product anyway and would just be more of an added bonus.

The packaging is something that I’m not overly struck on as I find it a little cheap looking but as long as the product inside it OK then I can live with it not looking the prettiest.

I wouldn’t say that the Rimmel Skin Tint is an exact dupe for the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector as they are different in a few ways. I have the Becca one in the shade Moonstone and the Rimmel shade is darker, despite getting the lighter option. I also noticed that the Becca Skin Perfector is slightly more shimmery whereas I’d say the Rimmel one just has more of a glow to it. However, overall if you’re looking for a similar product but don’t want to pay for something from a higher end brand like Becca, then I would really recommend giving this a try.

Have you tried the Rimmel #Insta Flawless Perfecting Skin Tint? Do you like using products like this?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

PS. On a bit of a side note, I just wanted to mention that I will be reducing the amount of blog posts I put up to one a week which will go up on a Sunday. I have been finding it difficult to keep up with everything recently with working full time and a lot of other things going on at the moment. As I was trying to cram everything in, I just felt like I was getting a lot less enjoyment out of the things I used to love so I have made the decision to cut back in some areas. I will still be posting new content every Sunday and hopefully this will give me the opportunity to make my posts a little better and also give me more time to read other blogs which I have always loved doing. Some weeks there may be a Wednesday post but didn’t want to put pressure on to do it every week. I will see how it goes anyway and may go back to two posts if I find I'm missing it too much!

  1. I'm surprised only two shade options are available from such a huge brand! Although this didn't massively 'wow' you, I'm glad it didn't disappoint either :) Looking forward to your Sunday-posts Hannah!

    1. Thanks Gabrielle :) yeah it's not going to reach Holy Grail status any time soon but for the price it's good and I would buy it again x

  2. This is not a foundation, is it? I don't use such products, since I have oily skin, but it's good to know that you are happy with it. The best thing is that you found a budget friendly option to use on a daily basis.

    1. It's not a foundation, it's more of a skin tint to give your skin a glow. If you have oily skin it may be a bit much for you. I have oily combination and wouldn't wear it alone as I'd look too shiny and also it doesn't provide any coverage. x

  3. I haven't tried this product yet! It looks like a great product for dewy skin lovers!:) I'm always very hesitant to try dewy face products as I can get very oily. But I think it looks beautiful on other people :) Maybe you can try mixing the Becca and the Rimmel together to help make your Becca SSP last longer?

Hope you find some time to relax :) Take it easy and Have a great week:) Thank you for the post!

    1. I like this product most when I wear it under my foundation just to give my skin a lift. I like quite high coverage from my foundation but sometimes this means it can look a little flat and a product like this can just help to add the glow again :) I hope the rest of you're week goes well and you have a lovely weekend too! x

  4. I wasn't sure about this because I almost never see a review on it so it's good to read your thoughts on it. I was wondering what happened to you and if you'll start posting only on Sunday so thank you for the update, I'll check back every Sunday.

    1. I hadn't heard much about it either to be honest and picked it up on a bit of a whim! I'm glad I gave it a try though :) yeah I thought I should do a bit of an update just to let anyone know, I really wanted to keep to two days a week but it's just become a little too much to keep on top of recently. I hope you have a fab weekend :) x

  5. Sounds good. And I don't mind that it's more glowy than shimmery. I don't do shimmer anyway.

  8. I've been hearing so many amazing things about the BECCA skin perfector and in moonstone, so much so that I didn't know there were any other options, haha! I've never tried any of their products before, but everyone really seems to love it, so I'm intrigued! Thanks for sharing a much more affordable alternative, which is incredibly helpful! I hope you have a great weekend ahead!

  11. @Jalisa G I do love the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector but I just wish it wasn't so expensive! I hadn't really found any cheaper alternatives until I came across this one so I'm glad I gave it a go and now hopefully I'll go through my Becca one a bit more slowly as well! x
