Hi everyone,
This was a something that I bought
completely on a whim a couple of weeks ago as it seemed like a much cheaper
version of the Trevor Sorbie Straight, Protect and Shine Spray which I usually
use. I am very fussy about my heat protectors as I like one that I can use on
dry hair but a lot of them tend to weigh my hair down and make it look a greasy
mess. Therefore, I don’t often try a lot of new ones anymore, thinking if it
isn’t broke why fix it. Curiosity got the better of me in this instance though
and at only £1.99 I thought it was worth giving a try.
Initially, I was a little disappointed
by the spray pump as it doesn’t seem to spray evenly and comes out in a bit of
an annoying, low pressure squirt. Maybe I just got one with a dodgy pump this
time but it’s one of my pet hates so it did put me off a little. On the plus
side, I was pleased that my hair didn’t feel weighed down or look greasy at all
with using the spray. I have curly hair which is quite straw like at times but
this product made it feel a lot softer and smoother which is something that I
wasn’t expecting and a nice surprise.
I have been using the Style and Care
Spray for a couple of weeks now and I do think it has helped protect my hair
when using heat, although I do find this difficult to test thoroughly. My hair
dries out quite quickly when I don’t use any products to help protect it, particularly
at the ends, and this hasn’t happened as much recently.
The scent of the spray is another plus
as I don’t really like the smell of the Trevor Sorbie one. For some reason, I
wasn’t expecting it to have much of a scent but this one is actually really
nice, although I find it difficult to describe what it is! I think I would just say that it's quite fresh and mostly like shampoo or clean hair!
Overall, I would re-purchase the Dove
Style and Care Heat Protect Spray but only if I could get it
for £1.99 again. I bought it from Bodycare but have since seen it at Boots for
£4.59 which is almost as much as the Trevor Sorbie spray at £5.70.
Have you tried the Dove Style and Care
Replenishment and Heat Protect Spray? Which other similar products would you
recommend?
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
I don't use heat protectant for my hair but mainly because I rarely use too much heat on it. I only do a very quick blow dry with my hair and because it's naturally pretty straight, I almost never use a hair straightener. Good to know that this performs decently especially for such a low price.

I can't say I've used many heat protector sprays to be able to compare them, though as I'm now trying to experiment with my hair a little more (curling etc), I'll keep those you've mentioned in mind; both this and Trevor Sorbie's :)

Great post and review! Photos are great too. I love Dove products as well, but I used only their body products :-)

I straighten my hair quite a bit too, and my usual heat protectant the Tresemme one is running out so I needed to pick up another one. I'll definitely bear this in mind :) Bodycare is great, you can literally get everything imaginable at super affordable prices :) xx

@Shireen L. Platt My hair is curly and can be quite frizzy so straighteners are a must for me on some days. It would be nicer to have straighter hair naturally but I guess we all want what we haven't got haha x
ReplyDelete@Gabrielle Both are really good and worth a try and I definitely think heat protector is a must if you are going to be styling it a lot :) x
ReplyDelete@Ileana Me too, I have recently tried the shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair and loved those as well :) x
ReplyDelete@Barbara Teodorovic Thank you :) I'm glad you enjoyed the post. I haven't tried many of the body products so I'll have to look into them a bit more x
ReplyDelete@Velvet Blush I love Bodycare and always get my essentials from there as they are so cheap! I haven't tried the Tresemme one but I will keep an eye out for it to try out next :) x
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that DOVE had a heat protectant in their line, so you've definitely introduced me to something new! I typically use Agadir's heat protectant, which has worked really well with my hair, but when I can't find it (which sometimes happens) I'll have to check this one out because I do use their dry shampoo, which does work well. Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great day so far!

I rarely heat style my hair so I rarely use a heat protectant. Didn't know Dove had one though.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had hair that I didn't need to use heat on but unfortunately it can be too unruly! x
DeleteI never use heat protection because I never straight or curl my hair. Although, sometimes for a party I give my look a twist. This would be a cheap, easy spray for me to use then! x
ReplyDelete@Jalisa Giron I think Dove is a brand that I need to keep an eye out for a bit more as I think they have a lot more products in their range than I realise. I'd definitely recommend the hear protectant though, especially if you can find it a bit cheaper like I did :) x
ReplyDelete@DownTownSofie I could do to use heat a lot less on my hair but I'm glad there are products like this that can protect it a little :) x
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh rubbish spray bottles are my pet hate too grrrr! It sounds like it did a pretty great job for the price though :)

@Rachel-Beth It's so annoying isn't it?! For the price I can't complain too much though x
ReplyDeleteOh, nice! I am about to buy a new hair spray and this review comes just on time! I was using the Elseve hair spray, but I've been wanting to change it. I am going to search for this one!
ReplyDelete@Stanislava E. I'm glad you found the review helpful :) You'll have to let me know how you get on if you do decide to give it a try :) x
