NOTD Marks and Spencer Baby Pink

Hi everyone,

Recently I have become addicted to Pinterest again and can easily spend a good hour or two on there, even after telling myself I'll just have a quick browse! One thing I particularly love looking at is nail art and different nail designs which inspired me to try something new.

I have acrylic nails and have done for years but always opted for either a square or oval look. This time I decided to have them a little more pointy, but not so pointy that I could do some damage with them! I know this may not be everyone's cup of tea but for me I really like the change and going for something different to my usual look.

Please excuse my dry hands and cuticles, they have been terrible recently!

When I was getting them done I took along this pink nail polish which I received in a set from Marks and Spencer for Christmas and asked the nail technician to paint my nails in it. I absolutely love the colour which is a really pretty pink / coral shade and I can see that I will wear it so much, especially in spring and summer. I also decided I wanted some glitter so the nail technician added this effect around the bottom of my nails. I have recreated this look myself at home and it's so easy to do. If you can use gel I have found it to be slightly easier but you can create the same look with polish. Simply dip the brush from a clear gel or polish into the glitter, dab it along the bottom of the nail and then brush it upwards to create an ombre effect ... easy!

I wish I was better at nail art myself but it's something I would like to practice in 2017. I just need to have a little more patience with it as I easily get frustrated when it doesn't look like I want it to!

Do you like using nail art to create different looks? Which are your favourite nail polishes?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  2. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the pointy nails, but I do love the pink and sparkle! (I'm always slow picking up trends like this, I'm sure that in a few months I'll be on the pointy nail bandwagon, lol)

    1. To be honest I do love the look of pointy nails but from a practical point of view they can be tricky, I have already put holes in two t-shirts! x

    1. I don't wear blue as often as I should as I'm always drawn to pinks and reds. Maybe I should try a blue shade next :) x

  4. I love the pink, will look fabulous as a Summer shade too. I'm pretty useless at painting my nails but do love having them done. I painted mine a rose gold with gold sparkles over the weekend and so glad I did, it does make a difference.
    Your nails look great 😊

    1. I do love this pink shade and I didn't really have anything else like it in my collection. Ooh I love the sound of the rose gold and glitter, that is something I can maybe try next as I actually got a rose gold polish recently :) x

  5. I don't even bother with nail art. I get more polish on skin than actual nails. I'm also someone whose always been a square shaped lover. Though I do love the pointed look.

    1. I do love square nails too and tend to swap between square, oval and now pointy just depending on what I feel like :) that's one good thing about acrylic nails, you can change it up whenever you like! x

  6. Ooo! I had no idea that you've had acrylic nails for years, Hannah and as you know, I've long admired your nails. LOL! Can you do a post on how you get yours done and if it's as damaging as everyone made it out to be? I am tempted to try but am afraid I destroy my nail bed? Would appreciate a post on how you care for your nails after removing them too and maybe the pros and cons?

    1. Aw sorry Shireen, I thought you knew they are acrylic, I wish I could get my natural nails looking the same! I do paint them and things a lot myself but most of the time the shape is down to the acyrlic. I can definitely do a post sharing my experience and how I get them done etc. I will get it up for you soon and try and answer any questions :) x

  7. It's definitely something that takes practice and you have to make sure you don't have a sudden urge to pee after you paint them! Lol. Love the nails!

  10. What a pretty and beautiful manicure. I love the pink colour so much, but to be honest, when it comes to nailart, I am rubbish at it, haha. I usually oopt for square nails because I use my hands quite a lot, cooking, baking, decorating, etc. <3 This is lovely, Hannah! /Madison

  21. Yay for pointy nails! I have to admit that this is always my shape of choice when I get acrylics, but Jake calls them talons :P hahaha!! This Marks and Spencers shade is so pretty hun- it's like the love child of pink and coral. Also- the glitter looks magic. I might have to try this myself with clear polish like you suggested :)
