Every Day Makeup Routine For Work

Hi everyone,

It's quite a while since posted about my every day makeup look and it has changed quite a lot over the last few months. I now use a lot fewer products in my daily routine and this has not only saved me time and money, but I think it gives me a lot fresher and more natural look.

I usually start by using Benefit Porefessional primer which I just apply using my fingers to blend it in. Having oily skin means that it is essential for me to use a primer, otherwise I find my makeup halfway down my face by lunch time. Porefessional isn't one of the cheaper options but I don't mind investing in it and it's one I always go back to as it really works and helps my makeup apply much better. Once I have my face primed and ready to go I apply my concealer. I have been using Bourjois Radiance Reveal under my eyes and Estee Lauder Double Wear to cover any redness and blemishes.

I apply my concealer before my foundation because at the moment I am using BareMinerals Bare Pro foundation. This is a big change for me as I always used to use a liquid foundation such as Estee Lauder Double Wear or Nars Sheer Glow. At first I really didn't like BareMinerals and thought that it would never be able to provide enough coverage and I wasn't used to such a powdery texture. I like is so much more now I have got used to it and it's great for a more natural and light weight every day look. As it is a powder, I have found it best to apply my concealer first and then use my foundation over the top so that it can act as a two in one to set the concealer in place as I would have done with a finishing powder before.

Once I have my base, I then apply my blusher and highlighter. Recently, I have been using a rediscovery which is MAC in Springsheen and then the Topshop highlighter in Sunbeam for a lovley golden glow which is really nice now we are heading into the warmer months.

For eye makeup I like to keep things really simple when I am in a rush to get ready for work in the morning. I literally use the Bourjois Kohl and Contour eyeliner along my bottom lash line and smudge it out using the Sigma E05 eyeliner brush. For mascara, I am using Benefit Roller Lash at the moment but I often swap between this and They're Real or Lancome Hypnose Drama.

Finally, I finish the look off by filling in my brows. Gimme Brow has been a long time favourite of mine but I find that they do dry out quite quickly and at £18.50 each they aren't cheap. That's why I have gone back to using Brow Zings and I have to say I have been really enjoying using it and think I can get a much more defined and natural brow. Sorry Gimme Brow but I don't think I will be going coming back to you anytime soon!

Which products do you use in your every day makeup routine? Do you like to go for a minimal, natural look or something more put together?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

PS Just a quick note to say I am on holiday for the next two weeks and although there will still be new posts each Sunday, I may be a little slow to reply to comments or emails. I will catch up as soon as I am back :)

    1. Sunbeam really is such a pretty highlighter, you just need to make sure you don't apply too much or it can look a bit OTT! And thank you so much, we are having a fab time so far on holiday :) x

  2. I love the Bourjois Kohl and Contour eyeliner, I use it most days and it's so affordable :) I've been meaning to try the Benefit Roller Lash for ages but have never got round to it.
What coverage is the Estee Lauder Double Wear concealer? I need to find one good for blemishes :) x

    1. I'd definitely recommend Roller Lash :) it's a bit more expensive but for me it's worth spending that bit extra on. Double Wear is high coverage and I find it to be really good at covering blemishes. I have had trouble with my skin recently and it has been a saviour! x

  4. Your makeup routine sounds simple but lovely, Hannah! I usually skip foundations altogether unless I am testing products but concealer is a must. And enjoy your vacation!

  5. I think it's important to invest in a good primer. It makes all the difference sometimes. My daily routine is similar to yours too. I prefer to be more natural for work. Though I tend to carry the same look through to night too hahaha
