Hi everyone,
One of the lip products which I bought
whilst I was in New York was the Sephora Lustre Matte Long Wear Lip Colour in
shade Petal Lustre. Whilst applying it today, I realised that it is one of my
most used lipsticks but I have barely mentioned it on my blog.
These lip colours are like a liquid
lipstick and with 14 shades to choose from there is definitely something for
everyone. The shade I went for, Petal Lustre, is a dark rosy pink colour and
as the name suggests it has a matte finish. I’m not usually a massive fan of
matte lip products as more often than not they are very drying and for my already
dry lips this isn’t a good combination. However, although I can’t say it’s
moisturising by any means, this is one of the better matte lipsticks I have
come across and doesn’t feel uncomfortable to wear in the slightest. I would
say to exfoliate your lips or apply lip balm a bit beforehand though to ensure
it doesn’t stick to any dry patches and look flaky or uneven.
It’s highly pigmented so one swipe can
get a decent colour payoff and it doesn’t smudge or crack throughout the day
either. The other huge selling point for me is how long it lasts as I can put it
on in a morning and eat and drink during the day and it will still be going
strong by mid-afternoon. Having said this, I don’t struggle too much to get it
off when I actually want to like I did with the Revlon ColourStay Ultimate Liquid Lipsticks (reviewed here).
The packaging for me looks quite classy
and is a handbag friendly size as well in case you do need to touch up
throughout the day. It comes with a doe foot applicator which I don’t mind and
still find I can get a good and even finish with it. The only thing I would
perhaps have preferred would be a more pointed end to allow for better
precision, especially with it being such a bold colour. However, if I have a
wobbly hand that day or just feel like taking a bit of extra care, I just use a
lip brush to perfect the edges and get a more precise finish.
Overall for me this lip colour hits
all the right buttons; it’s long lasting, has great pigmentation, doesn’t dry
out my lips, the packaging is cute and at $16 each they don’t break the bank! I
wish I had bought more of these but if I come across a Sephora anytime soon I’ll
definitively be adding some to my basket.
Have you tried the Sephora Lustre
Matte Lip Colours? What did you think? Which shades would you recommend?
Thanks for reading and hope you’re all
having a lovely week.
Hannah xx
I don't have this but I do own one of the lip cream range and it's amazing! Great review, Hannah, I'll need to pick this up next!

I wish there was a Sephora here where I could pick this up, it's beautiful! I wouldn't be able to wear mattes for a long time in the current weather too but the shades is just stunning so I would probably get it for a special occasion :)

@Shireen L. Platt I haven't tried the lip cream range so I'll have to try and pick one up next time I can get to a Sephora, although that might be a while off unfortunately with not having one in the UK :( x
ReplyDelete@VelvetBlush I wish there was a Sephora near where I live too but unfortunately there isn't so I had to pick this one up when I was on holiday. If you do get chance to go though I would highly recommend these lip colours as they are fantastic x
