Melody-Claire Elegant Depilation Hair Removal System Review

Hi everyone,

Every once in a while you come across a product and in the back of your mind you’re thinking ‘there’s no way this is going to work’, but for some reason you part with your hard earned cash and buy it anyway. That is exactly what happened when I purchased the Melody-Claire Elegant Depilation Hair Removal System at the Ideal Home show in Manchester a few weeks ago.

This system consists of a Micro-Crystal pad which you stick onto the pink backing pad and then applying slight pressure, you rub it onto your skin in a circular motion to remove hairs. The Micro-Crystals work together to break down hair fibres and also exfoliate the skin to leave it feeling super soft and hair free. The instructions advise that you rotate clockwise three times and then quickly change direction and rotate anti-clockwise three times. You then repeat this until you have the desired result.

Even though the assistant at the show demonstrated the product on both myself and my boyfriend’s arm I still didn’t think it would work. I hadn’t seen anything like it before and simply couldn’t imagine that it would be as effective as waxing or shaving due to the fact that you didn’t seem to be pulling the hairs out or cutting them off or anything that you would usually do as part of a hair removal process. All the way round the show I kept thinking that I should have saved my money but I’m so glad I took a gamble with this product. The first time I used it I was amazed! I followed the instructions and used the pads on my legs and couldn’t believe it when all the hairs were gone in the same way they would have been if I had shaved. It does take a little while longer to do (I think I did both legs in about 20-25 minutes) but when I had finished my legs felt so smooth and completely hair free. Some areas I had to go over a couple of times to make sure they was nothing left but this was as I expected for a first try. I was also pleased as it didn’t irritate my skin or leave a rash and you get the added benefit that you are exfoliating your legs as well as removing the hair.

I was told that the hair would take longer to grow back and eventually you would only need to think about hair removal once or twice a month. I have used this product a few times now and can’t say that I have noticed any difference in the speed at which the hair grows back and it is more or less the same as when I shave. For me this was a little disappointing as it was one of the main reasons I was drawn to the product in the first place.

In the pack that I bought you received one large backing pad, one small backing pad (which can be used on the face or bikini area etc), four large and four small micro-crystal replacement pads and one travel case. This came to a total of £20 for but on the day it was buy one get one free. Each replacement pad can be used more than once and cleaned in between uses so overall I think the price was reasonable, especially with the offer that was on.

Overall, I was truly amazed that this product actually worked and did a pretty decent job. I think I would be more likely to buy it again if I noticed a change in how quickly the hairs grow back, as for me shaving is less time consuming and has the same effect. If you are someone that suffers with shaving rash though or just fancy trying something a bit different then this product may be for you.

Have you tried anything like this before? Do you think it's something you would use?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. First of all, I agree with you that it does seems like a strange way for hair removal process but hey, it worked! This won't be a product that I would use though, I need all the hair that I can get. LOL!

  5. I'm sorry to hear that you did not have a good experience with this product. What works for one person might not work for another but that does not mean that they are lying. I am always very honest when reviewing a product and say if I don't think something has worked well for me which can be seen in my posts. I found this product to work very well for me and it removed hairs easily and actually worked better than I expected. You may have thicker hair than me, more of it or any number of differences that meant it didn't work as well for you. Again, everyone is different and just because someone does not have the same opinion as you it doesn't mean they are lying.
