Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Cosmic Review

Hi everyone,

Now we have landed in December, it’s time to get festive and for me that means bringing out the glitter and sparkle! I have a few Christmas parties coming up and wanted to find a really sparkly eyeshadow that would add a bit of festive glamour to my makeup looks. After shopping around for a while I eventually decided on the Urban Decay Moondust eyeshadow in the shade Cosmic.

Used dry
Blended
Used wet
Cosmic is a white glitter with hints of silver which I thought would be perfect as it will go with a ton of other eyeshadows rather than limiting me to one or two looks. It looks like a cream in the pot but applies like a powder and I found it best to dab it on over my eyeshadow using my fingers for a more subtle but still glittery look. It can also be used wet for a more intense appearance that is more like a traditional eyeshadow as opposed to a glitter. I think some of the other shades would be a bit more dramatic than Cosmic when used this way but with this one being a silvery white, it’s more of just a metallic effect than anything else. I think I will mostly be using it dabbed on top of what would have been my completed eye makeup just to add something a little bit extra as opposed to using it alone.

The glitter is quite fine rather than being big chunks which I much prefer and think looks more sophisticated than larger glitter pieces which can often seem a bit over the top and garish. I found the eyeshadows really easy to blend out to get a much more subtle effect or to pile it on if you want to go all in. The packaging is super cute and I find it quite expensive looking which I would expect having paid £14 for just one eyeshadow.

The only negative for me is that, as with a lot of glittery products, you do have to be careful of fallout with the Moondust eyeshadows. However, this is to be expected with this kind of product and as long as you add your concealer and powder once you have finished applying your eye makeup you should be good to go.

Overall this is a huge hit for me and just what I have been looking for. I would like to try some of the other shades in the range which I think you would be able to achieve a more dramatic look with, so Santa I hope you’re listening! Also if you would like to see a FOTD using this eyeshadow keep your eyes peeled as one will be making its way up very soon!

Have you tried the Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadows? Which other products do you love for the festive season?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. Oh wow, this is a really gorgeous color! It kind of reminds me of the Mary Loumanizer from The Balm. I would honestly probably even use this eyeshadow as a highlighter on my cheeks.
    Great review! :)

  5. @Shireen L. Platt This is the first single eyeshadow that I have bought from Urban Decay too as I have always been drawn to the Naked palettes before. I would definitely recommend giving these a try though as they are great for the Christmas party season! x
