Hi everyone,
I have been having a nightmare with my
skin recently and my makeup has just not been going on well at all. It just
hasn’t been blending very nicely and leaving really streaky patches all over
which just looks a total mess and I have tried anything and everything to fix
it. After a couple of weeks struggling with this I decided to invest in a new
primer and see if it helped. I have used the Benefit Porefessional before but I
was reluctant to fork out £24.50 for it all the time when I had been fine with
my MaxFactor FaceFinity primer which is half the price.
This primer is meant to minimise the
appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles to create super smooth looking
skin and the perfect base for makeup. Last time I used this I remember thinking
that I quite liked it but couldn’t see a huge amount of difference to my skin
after I had used it. Therefore, I decided it wasn’t worth the price tag and didn't buy it again. Maybe
it was because I was younger then and my skin was perhaps in better condition but
this time I noticed the difference right away. My skin instantly looked
smoother and more even which was amazing and not what I was expecting at all. I
have to say I don’t think it reduced the appearance of my pores very much, if
at all, but the overall look of my skin was much better. The primer is silicone
based which makes it feel lovely and smooth when you apply it and it has a
matte finish which I much prefer in a primer too. It helped keep my makeup in
place all day which is a particularly difficult task as makeup
doesn’t seem to want to stay put on me at all.
Thankfully, my makeup applied so much
better when I used the Porefessional primer and I was pleased I had found a
solution to the ongoing battle I have been having. I have no idea what has
caused it and I have been using the MaxFactor primer for years now and have
never had any problems with it before. I do think my skin is changing quite a
lot as I get older and I am constantly reviewing the products that I am using
so maybe it was just down to this.
Which primers would you recommend?
Have you tried Benefit’s Porefessional before?
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
I have never been a huge fan of primers as I never found one that I personally felt did something for my makeup until I bought NYX Angel Veil primer. Recently I picked up Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and Becca Backlight Primer Filter and OMG, you need to try both, Hannah! I personally feel both products are worth the hype and I swear my makeup has never looked this good before!

The Hourglass primer has been on my wish list for so long but the price tag always put me off! I think you have persuaded me though and I definitely need to give it a try :) I'll look out for the Becca one as well as I have always enjoyed the Becca products that I have tried in the past. Thanks for the recommendations :) x
DeleteI don't usually wear primers but will check this product if I decide to get one! Thanks for sharing.

I wish I could get away with not using a primer but unfortunately my makeup would last all of 5 minutes without one! You'll have to let me know how you get on if you do decided to try it out :) x
DeleteI have heard about this and it seems interesting.
ReplyDeleteI might give it a try sometime.

It is really good and definitely worth it :) x
DeleteAt the moment I am really loving the Canmake primer that I bought in Japan. So sorry to hear your skin was acting up, but good thing the primer helps.
ReplyDeleteThank you :) my skin has been a nightmare recently so I'm trying anything and everything to help it! The primer you have sounds interesting but I bet it will be difficult to get my hands on it here in the UK x
DeleteOooh I feel you on the change! I'm glad this worked out for you! I hear so many great things about this primer. I recommend, if I may, a facial scrub. Try one for sensitive skin:) For me personally, it helps when my skin is feeling rough, uneven and dull to the point where my makeup starts looking cakey and uneven and I notice that when I use my foundation afterwards, my foundation goes on smoothly and evenly since all of those dead cells are gone:) I use mine 1-2 a week, Hope your skin feels better! <3
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tips :) I have recently started exfoliating more and I do think it has helped a lot and I've noticed an improvement. I've been trying to take care of my skin a lot more, especially now I'm getting older so hopefully this will help too :) x
