Hi everyone,
Last week I was in the mood for some
shopping and top of my list was makeup as is usually the case. There wasn’t
really anything in particular that I had my eye on, I just wanted to try some
new things, so I went to Boots and had a nosy around.
One of the first things that I picked
up was the L’oréal Sculpt blusher. I had heard this blusher mentioned quite a
few times on blogs that I had read and most of the time it had received good
reviews, so into my basket it went. There are three shades available and I chose
Soft Rosy which contains a pale pink, a coral / orange colour and a darker pink.
All three shades in the palette have a slight shimmer to them but it isn’t too
glittery or sparkly and just gives a really nice glow. I think the idea behind
the three shades is that you swipe your brush across them with the lightest one
at the top to create a highlight effect and the darker one at the bottom for
the contour and apply this way. I find the different shades too small and close
together to just use separately and I have mainly been using them swirled
together to create a lovely, glowing medium pink shade. I then apply my
highlighter and any contour as normal. I just think it looks nicest
this way although it does kind of defeat the object of the sculpt part of the
palette.
One of the first things I noticed with
this blusher was that it is quite powdery. Swirling my brush in it just once
created quite a bit of mess so I have learnt to be careful when mixing the
three shades together so that I don’t end up with too much on my brush. It
isn’t the most pigmented I have tried but at the same time it isn’t the worst
and it lasted well throughout a long day at work. I did find there was some
fading by the early afternoon but there was still a decent amount left when I
got home at the end of the day.
I think my favourite thing about the
blusher is the glow that it gives. It’s not flat which is just what I am
looking for at the moment as the foundation I have been using is quite matte. I
would definitely look to purchase the other shades in the range and see how
they fare in comparison.
Have you tried this blusher? What did
you think?
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
I've always wanted to try this blush. I love the Infallible foundation a lot x

I haven't tried the foundation but I've heard really good things about it so I'll have to give it a try :) x
DeleteI don't think I've tried L'Oreal blushers before, the only things I've tried from the brand are foundations, lipsticks, eyeliners, mascaras and concealers. Not sure if I'll pick this one up though, like you said, each section looks so small so it would be hard to use them separately which defies the purpose.

Yeah it's a nice blusher but I think the sculpt aspect of it doesn't really work. I'll have to try some of the other things in the Infallible range and see how they compare :) x
DeleteThe colors of this blusher does look really pretty, thanks for sharing!

The colour is really nice and lovely for spring :) x
DeleteLooks pretty, especially that middle shade.
ReplyDeleteI really like the middle shade too. It's a shame it isn't bigger so that it would be easier to use on its own x
DeleteI know what you mean when you refer to the blusher as 'powdery', I always find that so irritating! It's good to know it lasted fairly well throughout the day though :) Have a lovely weekend!

I just find if they're too powdery it goes everywhere and the quality isn't as good. It's a shame and although it's not that expensive, I wouldn't say it was cheap either x
DeleteThis blush looks so fabulous!

I'm loving shades like this for spring and it makes a nice change from the darker shades I've been using over winter :) x
DeleteI really like the idea of having a sculpted blush effect on the cheeks. Contouring has really been dominating the trends lately lol :)I think the only other sculpting blush product I have seen is the Kat Von D blushes but those have already been pulled by Sephora so thank you for reviewing this! It's cool seeing other brands coming out with sculpting blush products:)
ReplyDeleteI hope more brands bring out sculpting products and I think this could be great with a few tweeks. It's just that the different sections are quite small and the blusher itself is a bit too powdery for my liking with this one. I would be interested to try the Kat Von Dee ones so it's a shame they are no longer available in Sephora. x
