Top 5 books that I have recently read

Top 5 books that I have recently read

Hi everyone,

I absolutely love reading and find it so relaxing to curl up and get lost in a good book. I mainly like chic lit books and ones that are quite light and easy to read, nothing too deep! When I’m reading, I mostly just want something that is going to lift my spirits and make me laugh and that’s an escape from everyday life. I have read quite a few good books recently so if you like the sort of ones that I do then these are definitely worth looking in to :)

1)  Finding Audrey

This is the first young adult novel written by Sophie Kinsella who is my favourite author. It centres on Audrey who is a young girl suffering with social anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder and depressive episodes and the story follows her recovery. I thought this was a very interesting and heart-warming read and was a book that I just couldn’t put down. I wondered if I would find this book a bit young for me but it wasn’t the case at all so don’t let the fact that it is a young adult novel put you off.

2)  Shopaholic to the Rescue

Another Sophie Kinsella novel, Shopaholic to the Rescue, picks up with Rebecca Bloomwood and her adventure to find her missing dad and best friend’s husband. If you haven’t read any of the other books in the shopaholic series then I suggest reading those first otherwise you might feel a bit lost with this one. However, the shopaholic series are some of my all-time favourites and are really light hearted and funny.

3)  I Heart London

The I heart… series are the ultimate chic lit books and along with the shopaholic series are some of my favourites. In the first book Angela, who is the main character, runs away to New York after finding out her fiancĂ© has cheated on her. The books then follow her adventures in New York as well as to Hollywood, Vegas and London. This is the last book to be released so again it’s probably worth starting at the beginning with I heart New York if you’re going to read them but I have just finished this one and loved it :)

4)  The Marble Collector

I love Cecilia Ahern books as they always have an underlying message and have a bit more depth to them. The Marble Collector is her latest release and is told from both the point of view of Fergus and his daughter Sabrina Boggs. After discovering her father’s marble collection, Sabrina has just one day to figure out her father’s past and unlock his secrets. I really enjoyed this book as it was something a bit different to the usual ones that I go for although it did take me a while to get in to. Once I did though I couldn’t put it down and thought it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.

5)  From Notting Hill to New York…. Actually

I loved the first book in this series and loved the second one, From Notting Hill to New York……. Actually, even more. I think this was slightly due to my obsession with New York after visiting there last year and I really enjoyed reading about all the landmarks we had been to. However, the story is great as well and I really like the main character Scarlett who is so funny and someone that you just instantly warm to.

Have you read any of these books that I have mentioned? What sort of books do you like to read? Or is reading something you’re not really into? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and I hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. Every time I see a reading list post, I feel so guilty because the only thing I read these days are blogs. :-( I barely have time for books.

  3. You've reminded me of Sophie Kinsella! I used to read her books as a teenager and found them to be the perfect light-hearted escape :)
