Hi everyone,
When I saw this product I was so
excited to try it out. I love having a tan but can’t stand the process of
putting it on after my shower, waiting for it to dry and then getting it all
over the bed sheets while I sleep. This seemed like the perfect alternative
with no messing around and I have always liked the St Tropez products that I
have used in the past. What could go wrong?
Well firstly, I have applied this tan
for the past five days in a row now and have seen more or less no difference.
This is a gradual tan so I wasn’t expecting to see a huge results straight away
but the tan it has given me is barely noticeable and not worth the effort. I
did think of leaving it on longer to see if it developed more but on the tube
it specifically says that they wouldn’t advise this and to develop a deeper tan
by using the product more frequently. However, I would think that after using
it for five days straight you would notice the product working so much more than it has but so far this
hasn’t been the case and I’m thinking of abandoning it altogether.

Day 5 |
Another issue for me turned out to be
the application of the product. To use, you apply the lotion to wet skin whilst
you are in the shower (making sure you turn the water off) and then leave for
three minutes before rinsing with just water. Now this didn’t sound too bad to
me initially but when you are stood wet and cold, three minutes can seem like
an age and after a couple of days I found myself thinking I’d rather just use
my normal tan once I had got out of the shower and got dry.
The benefits to the St Tropez
in-shower tan are that it doesn’t rub onto your clothes or bed sheets as you
have rinsed the majority of it off in the shower so no waking up with unsightly
brown marks everywhere. Also it has a very slight tan like smell to it but it
is barely noticeable and one that I can easily put up with.
Overall, I don’t think this gradual
tan is any good at all and the in-shower aspect seems to be a bit of a gimmick.
I think perhaps the rinsing just washes it off but there’s no way you can leave
it on as it lathers up a bit like a body wash. I really had high hopes for this
one and thought all my tanning problems would be solved but no such luck
unfortunately.
Have you tried any in-shower tanning
products? If you have any success stories please let me know as I would love to
try a similar product that actually works!
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
So glad you did a review, after seeing it in your previous post it sounded like a really good product but if it doesn't make much of a difference, think I'll keep my eye out for something else. I've seen that Palmers do one with their signature cocoa butter in so I may give that one a go :) x
ReplyDeleteYeah it's such a shame as I had really high hopes and just thought it was going to be amazing so I was so disappointed when it didn't live up to my expectations. I didn't know about the Palmers one so I'll definitely add that to my shopping list to pick up next time :) x
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a pity! Could have been so good.
ReplyDeleteI know, I had such high hopes :( x
DeleteHmm, standing wet and cold in the shower for 3 minutes doesn't sound ideal! Thanks for the honest review on this gradual tan, I've only ever heard glowing (pun intended haha) reviews on St Tropez products. Fingers crossed you find the perfect gradual bronzing lotion soon :)

I have enjoyed all the other St Tropez products I have used so I was surprised by how much I didn't like this one. The standing wet for three minutes was something I thought I really wouldn't mind but it turns out it feels a lot longer when you're just stood there haha x
DeleteThat application sounds terrible! -Hanna Lei

It was so disappointing :( such a shame! x
DeleteI've never tried tanning products but it's a shame the product is such a let down! I agree, that instead of getting carried away with gimmicks they should just stick with products that work, that way it isn't a waste of your money. xx

I really thought I had found my perfect tanning product with this one but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I've got my eye on some other tanning products now so hopefully they will turn out better :) x
DeleteSorry that this product doesn't seem to work for you!

Thank you :) hopefully I'll find something better soon! x
DeleteOh, well, it sounded too good to be true. I should have expected the poor result, because I also thought this would be the answer for me, luckily for me I read your review! lol
ReplyDeleteThank you :)

That's very true, if something sounds too good to be true then it probably is haha. I haven't had as high hopes for a product for a while which just made it all the more disappointing x
DeleteI think Kathleen Lights included this in her products that didn't work out video too and she said the same thing as you. 3 minutes is like forever when you're standing stark naked cold in the shower! I also saw this being included in one of my beauty subscription, needless to say I quick opted the other box because I don't use tanning products.

3 minutes didn't seem like that long when I bought it but when you're just stood there waiting it feels like an age! It's good to hear someone else had the same problems but it's a shame they had the same disappointment too x
DeleteI like the idea of a gradual self tanner, as sometimes it is a little bit weir to be super pale one day and tan the next day :D

I much prefer gradual tans as you can build it up easier to get it just how you want it and you don't have to worry about them going wrong as much :) x
