Sunkissed Once a Week Mousse

Hi everyone,

My search for the perfect tanning product has continued for a while and although I have found some to be good, there hasn’t been one that has stood out above all others. That’s why when Sunkissed reached out and asked if I would like to try their Bronze Professional Once a Week Mousse I couldn’t wait to give it a go.

This tan is designed to last 7 days before you need to reapply but can also be used as an instant tan. Applying tan is one part of my beauty regime that I really dread doing so I thought if I could cut it down to just once a week then I’d be a very happy bunny. It works with active ingredients which sink into the deeper layers of the skin making the tan stay put for longer. Sunkissed also say “The Once-A-Week formula contains a powerful vitamin complex VitaTone™, which works to visibly smooth the appearance of the skin, whilst offering intense nourishment and protection against free radicals.”

Straight after applying the tan
After applying the tan and having a shower in the morning
After 7 days - this photo was taken in the same place as the one above but at a later time in the day.
I used a tanning mit to apply the mousse which I always do as it just avoids staining my palms and having to try and scrub them back to normal later. I noticed that the mousse sank into the skin and dried very quickly leaving a lovely natural looking tan rather than something that you can tell is obviously a guide colour. Therefore, you could use it as an instant tan quite easily just before a night out for example and then leave it on overnight for it to develop further.

I still noticed that biscuit scent which you get with tanning products but thankfully it does fade quite quickly once you have had a shower in the morning. The tan also did rub off on to my bed sheets which is something to bear in mind, particularly if your sheets are white like mine. I have found very few tanning products which don’t do this to some extent so it is always in the back of my mind when I am trying something new and I make sure not to wear my best PJs or use my best bed sheets!

I try and take my time when applying tan and was pleased to see that I had no streaks or patchy bits when I woke up in the morning. The tan did look quite dark initially but a fair bit of it washed away in the shower and the tan I was left with was very natural looking. I think for me, I would have preferred it to be ever so slightly darker so when I repurchase this tan (which I will be doing) I will probably try out the darker option instead of the medium.

Now to the big question… did my tan last for 7 days? Well I definitely agree that it lasted longer than a normal tan on me but I’d say I wanted to reapply it after about 4 or 5 days. As you can see in the photos it had pretty much all come off after 7 days. I will say though that it faded really nicely which is also a huge plus for me. I absolutely hate it when tan flakes off in patches and it looks awful after just a few days so you end up having to try and keep those areas covered.

Overall, I really like this tan and the golden colour it gave me. It didn't last quite as long as I'd hoped but I will still repurchase it as I like the finish and the fact that it fades nicely. Even though I have quite fair skin, I’ll probably look at getting the darker option next time and see if this makes any difference. Hopefully it won't be too dark for me but as mentioned, quite a lot of it does seem to rinse off in the shower so I think it's worth trying.

Do you use tanning products? Have you tried the Sunkissed Once a Week Mousse?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. A tan that lasted a week would be seriously amazing, but four or five days is still pretty good :) The colour is really natural too. I use model co, but it does rub off on my sheets haha

  2. Yeah I do like it as a tan but I wish it would have gone the full 7 days before it needed reapplying. I haven't tried the Model Co. one so maybe that can be next on my list to test out :) x

    1. I am happy with it and it gives such a lovely colour. If it would only last those few extra days it would be perfect! x

  4. I have never tried any tanning products, but that's because I don't really care if I am white as cheese or have chocolate tan:) This one sounds nice, and it's good to hear you are happy with it. Regarding the days it lasts - I think it depends on the skin.

    1. I go through phases with my tan where sometimes I'll not bother with it at all but then other times I'm using it all the time. I do really like this one though and would definitely recommend it if you ever fancy giving it a go :) x

    1. Haha thank you :) I'm going through a tanning phase at the moment where I'm doing it all the time and this tan has been the only one I've reached for over the last couple of months x

  7. @Ileana Yeah I was happy with the colour overall and thought it looked natural too :) If it had stayed for 7 days I think this could have been close to the perfect tan x
