Birthday Makeup Look

Hi everyone,

Today I wanted to share with you this makeup look which I will be wearing for my birthday celebrations this weekend. I was obsessed with the gold, glittery eye look over Christmas and what better time to bring it back out again than for my birthday.

So to start with I have used Benefit Porefessional Primer as this helps keep my makeup in place all day and also helps it to go on better. I then used Estee
Lauder Double Wear concealer to cover any redness and blemishes and Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer under the eyes. For foundation, I applied my BareMinerals BarePro foundation in the shade Cashmere. There is a brush which goes alongside this foundation but I don't believe it does anything different to the ones that I already have in my collection so I used the Real Techniques buffing brush to gently buff it into the skin for a really natural look.

Moving on to cheeks I used my favourite cheek palette at the moment which is the Urban Decay Naked Flushed palette in the shade Strip. The bronzer in this palette is little dark for my skin tone so I don't use this very often but the blusher and highlighter are ones that I reach for all the time. The golden shade of the highlighter in this palette works really well for this look and goes perfectly with the gold eyeshadows.

For the eyes I usually start by applying the shade Gold Coin from the Tanya Burr Hollywood palette all over the lid. This gives a really good base but I then like to go over the top with the shade Half Baked from the first Urban Decay Naked palette. As you can see in the photo I use this one a lot! Next I'm back to the same Tanya Burr palette to add a bit of definition with shade Bookworm which I run along the crease and in the outer corners. I then use my Sigma E40 Tapered Blending brush to blend it all out.

Now for the fun part, this glitter pot was in the Tanya Burr advent calendar this year and I just love it. I have found it is best to wet your brush a little first when applying it in order to help it stick, otherwise it does just tend to fall down your face. As you can see in the photo there is still a little fall out (I thought I had got it all but the camera shows up everything!). In applying the glitter wet though I have been really surprised at how long it lasts without fading or rubbing off. I recently went to Liverpool for a friends birthday and it lasted all day and night until I eventually took it off and fell into bed around midnight.

For this look I haven't been using any eyeliner on the top lash line but I do run some of the Bourjois Khol and Contour eyeliner along my waterline before adding a whole heap of mascara! At the moment I am using Lacome Hypnose Drama which is one of my all time favourites.

No makeup look is complete without adding some definition to your brows and for this I used the Benefit Gimme Brow and Ka-Brow together. At Christmas I liked to finish the look off with a red lipstick but for my birthday I am going for something more natural and using Bourjois Shine Edition in Rose.

I hope you like this look and enjoyed this post. Which is your favourite go-to makeup look at the moment? Are there any products that are always in your makeup routine?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  2. You look so lovely :) I really like this gold eyemakeup as it is dressy, but not too much :) Half baked is one of my fave shades too. I wish we had the Tanya Burr products over here in Australia as they sound pretty good.

    1. I love Half Baked and don't know what I am going to do when it runs out haha, I hope they sell it separately from the palette! Although the quality of the Tanya Burr products isn't amazing I think they are really good for the price and the shades are always lovely. x

  21. Happy Belated Birthday (I've probably missed it), hope you had an amazing day! You look lovely, and the addition of the gold glitter is a really nice touch. If I go shopping at the weekend, I like switching my lipsticks up because I rarely use a lot of them, and trust me, there's a lot! So I like going with a strong lip, some liquid highlighter and then some eyeliner :) xx

  22. Thank you :) I love playing around with lipsticks too but I need to do it more often! I always used to wear lipstick every day but recently I have got out of the habit and been focusing on eye makeup more. I definitely think it's time to dig out all my lipsticks and lipglosses again though :) x
