My In-Flight Essentials

Hi everyone,

With my holiday less than a week away I have been starting to think about packing and what I need to take with me. I hate flying and like to make it as comfortable as possible so there are a few in-flight essentials that I always make sure I have with me.

Having my Kindle is an absolute must for me on a flight and I love being able to take my mind off the journey by getting lost in a good book. I also put a film or two on my iPad to keep me entertained for a couple of hours; this time I’ve gone for Confessions of a Shopaholic which is one of my favourites and such a feel good film. I always make sure that I watch something upbeat and happy when I’m flying as I’m usually already feeling nervous and anxious and don’t want to watch anything that will trigger any horrible thoughts! Finally entertainment wise, I top up the music on my phone before I fly anywhere in case I just want to close my eyes and try and relax a bit more.

For listening to music or watching a film I like to take two different sets of headphones with me, my Skinny Dip over ear headphones and my Apple in ear headphones. I like to have one of each type as if I wear the same ones for too long they start to hurt my ears!

If you’re going to be using your phone or tablet a lot during the flight, which I know I always do, then it’s a good idea to take a charger with you to keep all the batteries topped up. This one was only £5 for Avon and I have got so much use out of it.

Some cleansing wipes come in really handy, especially on a long haul flight and can help you freshen up and just make you feel a bit cleaner. I also like to have hand gel for the same reason and the Body Shop ones are some of my favourites. Everyone knows flying can be so drying on the skin so I like to take the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream to keep my lips in particular, nice and hydrated.

I always throw some tissues in my hand luggage in case of any spills and my Travelo for a quick spritz of perfume as I’m getting off the plane.

Finally to make sure I’m nice and cosy I take some fluffy socks and this wrap which I got in the sale at Oasis as it can get really cold on planes. If I’m flying over night or want to try and get some sleep then an eye mask is a must and some ear plugs to block out any background noise.

So those are all of my in-flight essentials to make traveling that bit more comfortable! If I’ve missed anything please let me know in the comments below as well as any tips you have for making a long haul flight that bit more bearable!

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. Lip balm and wet wipes are definitely essential for a long flight! We'll be heading back to Malaysia February next year for two weeks visit and I can't imagine how the long flight is going to be with a 1 and half years old. LOL!

  2. @Shireen L. Platt Oh gosh, hopefully your little one will enjoy the flight and maybe even have a little sleep on the way :) I completely agree though, I'd be so annoyed if I forgot my lip balm and wipes! xx
