Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation Review

Hi everyone,

I bought the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation a couple of weeks ago in the Boots 3 for 2 offer. I have to say that I didn’t have very high hopes for it as I am so fussy when it comes to foundations and find that there’s not many that will last all day on my skin. However, I had heard so many bloggers rave about it and I really like the Wake Me Up concealer so I decided to give it a try.

The Wake Me Up foundation claims to provide an anti-fatigue effect to make skin appear brighter and more fresh looking. This is mainly what worried me about this product as I do get an oily t-zone and so anything that has a glow about it only emphasises the problem and makes the foundation slide off during the day. I had also read some blog posts advising people with oily skin to steer clear of this product so I wasn’t sure it was going to work very well for me. However, I was really impressed with the staying power and it actually lasted a lot longer than I expected. I used a primer to try and help it to stay put and with powder touch ups I got a good eight hours wear from this foundation.

There is a slight shimmer in it but it doesn’t look glittery or too shiny and just helps your skin look naturally glowing. It also has a bit of a scent to it which I was worried about as my skin is so sensitive I didn’t want this to cause any irritation. I have been using it on and off for about two weeks and I haven’t had a problem with it so far but I don’t know if this would change if I were to use it continuously every day.

I would say you get a medium coverage with this foundation and the texture is quite creamy and a little thicker than I thought it would be. I do like how it feels overall on the skin though and I think it looks quite natural. There are only six shades to choose from which is very poor and I feel that I was quite lucky to find one that matches my skin well (I went for True Ivory).

Overall I was more impressed with the Wake Me Up foundation than I thought I would be but it’s not going to replace all others in my collection by any means. I think it will be one that I reach for when I’m going out for a meal or with friends and will be wearing it for a few hours but I wouldn’t choose to use it on a daily basis.

What are your thoughts on the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation? Are there any other high street foundations that you would recommend?

Thanks for reading xx
