Products That I Regret Buying

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately there have been quite a few products that I have bought recently that just haven’t lived up to expectations or that I’ve just been really disappointed with. I have been branching out a bit more and trying things that I wouldn’t normally so I guess it’s just trial and error sometimes. However, I thought I’d share with you guys the products that I regret buying so that you can decided whether you want to try them out or not.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation

I was really excited to try this foundation as there is so much hype around it and it has become a bit of a cult makeup product. However, it really irritated my skin and brought me out in large red patches and spots so unfortunately I can’t use it. The foundation itself does provide a really nice finish but if you have sensitive skin I would steer well clear of this one. If you would like to read a bit more about my experiences with this product I have written a full review here.

Avon Lipsticks

Secondly I have kind of given up with Avon lipsticks in general, mainly because when they arrive the colour is never anywhere near like it appeared in the brochure. I guess this is the trouble with not seeing a lipstick in real life before buying! These two shades, Noble Nude and Camel, are the ones that I was most disappointed with and won’t be getting any use out of.

L’oreal Elvive Fibrology Thickening Shampoo

I’m really trying to be good to my hair at the moment and I’m still trying to stay away from the straighteners. I want to grow my hair but also think it could do with being a bit thicker so when I saw this shampoo on offer in Tesco I thought it would be perfect. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and can see a slight improvement in the thickness of my hair but I have had to stop using it as it has dried my scalp out so much and just made it really flaky and horrible.

Eau De Glow by JLO Perfume

I think I picked the wrong one up of the JLO perfumes as there were two on offer at Debenhams and I really liked the tester that I smelt. However, when I got it home it smells nothing like the one in the shop and I just really don’t like it. To me it smells really soapy and after wearing it for a couple of hours it started to make me feel sick! It’s safe to say I won’t be getting much use out of this one.

Maybelline Expert Wear Blush in Peach

I was disappointed with this product because I really don’t like the formula or if and it’s really difficult to get much product out of the pan and onto your brush. You have to pile it on to get any colour onto your cheeks and it’s just not worth the effort. I would expect more from Maybelline and I really like the peach shade so I was disappointed with this one.

Avon Glo Multi Stylo in Shimmering Bronze

I thought this product might be good for contouring and really easy to use. Unfortunately the colour is an awful orangey beige which just makes me look a funny shade. Again ordering from a brochure or online can mean that you are disappointed when the product actually arrives and it’s not what you thought.

So there you have my top products that I regret buying and won’t be getting much use out of. Some of these might work really well for you and as I mentioned with beauty and makeup products it can just be a case of trial and error but for me I was really disappointed with these purchases.

Have any of you guys tried any of the products I’ve mentioned? Did you like them or did you regret spending your money on them?

Thanks for reading xx

  1. Eek I hate when a product does what it is supposed to do but my skin reacts to it terribly. Also hate when colors don't match their pictures (which is why I dislike ordering online!)Thanks for the reviews!

And thanks for the lovely comment on my post :)

  2. I know what you mean about Avon - overall they're a bit of a risk and it's happened quite often that nail polishes and lipsticks aren't remotely what the swatch in the catalogue makes out. Shame really since some of the products are really great value :o) Xx

  4. @KatXoXo I know it's so disappointing! I have sensitive skin and I can't use MAC foundations either unfortunately :( I don't order so much online either unless I've seen it in a shop somewhere and know I like it, you just can't get a true idea of what shade something is from a picture online or in a brochure. x

  5. @Charlotte MacDonald-Gaunt Definitely, I've hardly had any products from Avon that have really matched the brochure. I think you can ask for testers of some things but I'm not sure if you have to pay for them or not x
