How to.... Super Glittery Nails

Hi guys,

I wasn’t going to write a how to post on my nails but I just love how super sparkly and girly they are so I thought I would share on my blog how to do them in case any of you fancied giving your nails a bit of sparkle as well. I haven’t taken step by step pictures as this post was a bit of an afterthought but it’s really easy to do and I’ll try and explain as best as I can.

What you’ll need…..

If you have a gel kit this will work better but you can just use clear nail varnish if you don’t have one.  I have the Sensationail Starter Kit which is really good and you can read a full review of it here. You’ll also need some glitter of your choice, any glitter will work but I think the finer glitters always look a bit better and you’ll get a smoother finish, nail varnish remover and cotton wool.

Step 1

Find a gel colour or nail polish that is similar in colour to your glitter and paint your nails with it. If you’re using gel set it under the lamp.

Step 2

Dip your finger into the glitter making sure your whole nail is covered and then pat the glitter down onto the nail. Don’t worry if it’s all over your fingers as well, we’ll sort that out later.

Step 3

Apply your top gel coat or clear nail polish. You might want to wipe the brush before you dip it back into the gel or polish bottle so it doesn’t get glitter in it. I did three coats of gel so that my nails were smooth and super shiny. This is probably where it is better to use gel if you can and it will also last longer this way.

Step 4

Get a cotton pad with some nail varnish remover on and sweep it over each nail to remove the excess glitter from around your nails. If you’ve used polish obviously don’t wipe over your whole nail, just go round the edges!

And that’s it, your glitter nails are all done :) This is super easy to do and the effect is so pretty, I love it!
