Top 5 Powders

This week I am continuing my ‘top 5’ series with a look at my favourite powders. For a long time the only powder I ever used was Clinique Almost Powder Makeup which I still absolutely love. However, more recently I have been branching out a lot more and trying new powders and I have discovered that Clinique isn’t the only decent one out there.

5) Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 005 Silky Beige (£3.99)

This is a much loved powder in the blogging and YouTube communities and at just £3.99 it’s such a bargain! I really like this powder but I have put it in at number 5 as I like a powder with a little more coverage and it doesn’t last as long on my skin as some of the others I have tried.

4) Revlon ColourStay Pressed Powder in Light (£10.99)

I discovered this powder when I was in New York but I was so pleased that it is available in the UK as I have really liked using it. I have read mixed reviews on it but for me it leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft and it helps keep my makeup in place all day. I also like that this one has a mirror and applicator which the Rimmel powder doesn’t so it’s handy for carrying around in my handbag for touch ups throughout the day. The only slight downside for me is that the formula is a little too powdery and chalk like and it does go a bit all over the place if you’re not careful.

3) Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder in 10 Classic Ivory (around £20 in the UK and $12.99 in the US)

I hadn’t seen anything like this powder before which contains salicylic acid to help treat blemishes whilst also controlling shine. I really liked the idea of it and although I’m not 100% sure whether or not it has helped prevent blemishes, I do think it is gentler on my skin than some of the other powders that I have used. Unfortunately I can’t find this in the UK apart from on Amazon where it is £20 which is disappointing as I would definitely have repurchased it.

2) Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder Foundation in 002 Soft Beige (£6.99)

I actually bought this powder on a whim when I was in Manchester with my mum a couple of weeks ago. It was a super hot day and I had forgotten to bring any makeup with me and felt like I need to refresh my face! I just bought this one as I like the Rimmel Stay Matte powder but this one had a mirror and applicator for using on the go. I’m so glad I picked it up as it has quickly become my favourite high street powder and the one I am reaching for most days. It claims to last 25 hours and I’m not sure about that but it certainly does last throughout a long day at work!

1) Clinique Almost Powder Makeup (£24.50)

Although I have branched out and tried different powders, the Clinique Almost Powder Makeup still remains my firm favourite. I think the formula, staying power and coverage are all just right for me and I’ve yet to find a powder that can fully compete.

I’m glad I have tried some other powders and found some much cheaper offerings that are still very good. Although the Clinique option still remains my number one I have been reaching for it a little less now I have some others to choose from.
