Hi everyone!
Towards the end of last year, I felt
that my skincare regime was no longer working well for me and I needed to
switch things up. In particular, as I turned 27 in January I also decided it
was time to take a bit more interest in anti-aging products in order to help prevent
any early signs of aging. Even though I don’t have many fine lines or wrinkles
as yet, my theory is that it is better to try and stop them in advance as
opposed to waiting for them to appear and then trying to fight them.
I had seen the Boots No.7 Early Defence range when it first came out but had held off buying it in order to use
up the products that I already had first. At £19.50 each, they are at the
cheaper end of the spectrum but I was glad I waited and ended up getting them
on the 3 for 2 offer along with a £5 discount voucher! I bought the Early
Defence day and night creams as well as the eye cream and have been using them
for just over a month now.
The first thing I noticed about both
the day and night creams was that they were a lot less thick than the Clarins Multi-Active
Day Cream which I had previously been using. I much prefer this as I felt that
the Clarins one was a little too heavy for everyday use on my skin and it was
clogging my pores up quite a lot. Perhaps this is also due to the fact that these
creams are aimed at people in their 20’s who have younger skin and don’t need
the full force of something stronger. In the photograph the day cream is on the left, the night cream on the right and the eye cream at the bottom. As you can see, the day and the eye cream have a slightly thicker consistency than the night cream. I was surprised by this as I would have thought it would be the other way round but I found that all the creams worked as well as each other in a moisturising sense despite the difference.
I noticed that the No.7 creams
are so much more hydrating than others that I have used. Any dry patches that I had were significantly reduced
after a day or two of using the creams and my skin felt much softer and had
more of a glow to it. This was also the case for the eye cream. For some reason
my eye lids in particular have been so dry and sore but this cream has really
helped and more or less all the dryness has now gone. All three products absorb
in quickly too and don’t leave any greasiness behind which is something I
really can’t bare when it comes to skincare.
It’s difficult to comment on the
anti-aging effects and I guess I’ll only really know if it’s worked if and when
I start developing some fine lines! I am a little skeptical as I am of any
product that claims to be anti-aging and I wonder how much they can really help. I guess only time will tell! So far so good though and I’m happy that
I decided to switch things up as I feel that this range is much better suited
to my skincare needs.
Have you tried any of the Boots No.7
skincare range? Which other skincare products would you recommend?
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
No.7 seems to have a pretty good skincare from what I read. The reviews have been good and hopefully you'll see more results later. I believe anti-aging is prevention than cure, I used them since my early 20s which I believe is one of the reasons why my skin is pretty good at my age.

@Shireen L. Platt I totally agree, I think the earlier you start the better but so far I haven't found a routine I'm 100% happy with. So far so good with this range though so you never know, I might have cracked it! :) x
ReplyDelete@Ileana I'd definitely recommend them, they're so good and really not talked about enough! x
ReplyDeleteGlad that this range of products work well for you and they do sound very promising for anti-aging! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you :) x
DeleteI'm unable to truly test a product's claim to help fine lines too, however I know my nan using some of these products and her skin genuinely looks incredible since using it - it's clearly a great range for all ages, which is fab! :)

It's so difficult to test any anti-aging properties as you just don't know yet! My mum uses a lot of the No.7 skincare range too and she has always loved it, I'm surprised it doesn't get more mentions really. x
DeleteI have been checking out a few of your stories and i can state pretty good stuff. I will definitely bookmark your blog Eye Creams for Wrinkles
