Top 5 Concealers

Hi everyone,

My skin has been having a complete nightmare for a while now but over the last couple of weeks in particular I have been having a really bad breakout and my skin just looks so tired and dull. Concealer has become my best friend and I have tried and tested many to find the ones that work best for me, both for covering up any redness and blemishes and for hiding dark circles. As it is a completely necessary product for me at the moment, I thought I would post a rundown of my current top 5 concealers in the hope that maybe it will help some of you if you are struggling with the same problems.

5. Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer and Brightener

I love using a highlighting concealer under my eyes to just brighten and lift my skin tone. The Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer and Brightener has a slight pink tint to it and makes the under eye area look much smoother and also helps makeup stay in place longer. This one is a little more light weight than others I have used so if you’re looking for something that isn’t too heavy it might be worth giving this one a try.

4. Rimmel Wake Me Up

This is a very popular concealer amongst bloggers so I won’t go on too much as you’ve probably heard tons about it already. This is another one to use under the eyes rather than on blemishes and is one of the few concealers that I will always have in my makeup drawer. I usually buy it in a shade lighter than I normally would to get that extra brightening effect.

3. Bourjois Radiance Reveal

It took me absolutely ages to find this concealer as it was sold out everywhere and even now I don’t have it in the shade that I really want. I ended up getting shade 2 which does match my skin tone but as I was using it under my eyes again, I really wanted to get shade 1. However, I was too impatient to try it as I’ve seen rave reviews everywhere and just decided to give it a go. So far I have been impressed and it has bumped Rimmel Wake Me Up down my list of favourites. I really like the smooth texture of it and the fact that it gives a bit more coverage than some concealers for those days when I really need it!

2. Estée Lauder Double Wear

I have used this concealer for years alongside my Double Wear foundation and it was my number one go-to concealer for ages. It provides really high coverage and is great for hiding blemishes. The only thing to be careful of is applying too much as it can look cakey if you go in too heavy with it.

1. Benefit Boi-ing

This is a recent re-discovery that came about actually out of pure laziness! I was doing my makeup one day and realised that my Double Wear concealer was downstairs and I just really couldn’t be bothered to go and get it. Scrambling round in my makeup drawers I came across my Boi-ing concealer and decided to use that instead. I’m so glad I did as it has been such a huge help when doing my makeup recently. It comes in a pot but I just use my fingers to apply it and it melts really easily onto the skin. I find gently patting it on is the best way to go and it blends so nicely and provides fantastic coverage.

Which concealers do you like to use? Have you tried any of my top 5?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. I have read so many amazing things about Rimmel Wake Me up concealer and Boujois Radiance concealer. I have a couple concealer to go through but I will definitely try Rimmel Wake Me Up soon. Unfortunately for me Bourjois is pretty expensive here in Canada, it's almost high end pricing. :-(

  2. Sorry to hear your skin has been misbehaving lately - isn't that the worst?! I used to use Estée Lauder's Double Wear though like you said, found it could become a bit cakey pretty easily. Right now, I adore Clarins' Instant Concealer :)

  3. I haven't tried any of these! Lately I've just been using the Clinique Chubby Stick Foundation as concealer, it can totally double as concealer.

  4. I've been using a concealer for already 2 or 3 years, even when my skin doesn't look tired or dull. The Rimmel one sounds very good. Mainly because I use concealer under the eyes, as well as the Bourjois one. I haven'tried any of these, but I'd consider trying one of these 2.

  5. Such a great roundup of products, girlie! I was using the one by Revlon for a bit, but stopped because I felt it was a bit too light and didn't conceal as much as I wanted. Now, I'm interested in trying out the one by Rimmel, which seems to be popular! Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead, girlie!

  6. I'm one of the few who still haven't tried the Wake Me Up concealer! It's the shade matching I hate the most. The Bourjois one sounds perfect for me though as I got on so well with their foundation, I just need to choose between shade 2 or 3 now :)

  8. My skin has been absolutely awful lately so I totally sympathize with you! I used to use Benefit Boi-ing and you've just reminded me of how awesome it is! I also really like the idea of buying concealer a shade lighter to be highlighting :)

  9. @Shireen L. Platt I would defintely recommend both and can see that they will be staples in my makeup collection for a long while to come :) I can't believe Bourjois is so expensive for you! I wouldn't say it is worth splashing out high end prices for at all. x

  10. @GabrielleIt's so annoying isn't it?! I have some creams and tablets from the doctors now so hopefully it will start to get better soon :) I need to try more Clarins makeup as I have only really used their skin care products in the past so I will look out for the concealer. x

  11. @Stanislava E. I always apply concealer under my eyes too as it can just make such a difference to brightening up my complexion. The Rimmel and Bourjois ones are great for this and they won't break the bank either :) x

  12. @Jalisa G Yeah I have found that the Revlon one does provide the least amount of coverage so I use that one mainly on the days when my skin is looking it decent condition. I think I'm now on to my third tube of the Rimmel one so it must be doing something right! Hope you have a fab week too and a lovely weekend :) x

  13. @Velvet Blush I find shade matching frustrating too and concealers always seem to have less options available. If it's for under my eyes I always tend to go a bit lighter than I normally would to get a more brightening effect. x

  15. @Rachel-Beth It's so frustrating isn't it and nothing seems to have helped. I'm so glad I rediscovered Boi-ing as it has been a complete saviour to me recently. I certainly won't be forgetting about it again in a hurry anyway :) x

Can't believe you still haven't managed to get the right shade of the Bourjois Radiance Reveal concealer :O The one I got was the last one and I haven't seen one in stock for ages :( I think they are in stock online from Superdrug :) x

  19. @Natasha I have finally managed to get my hands on the Boujois Radiance Reveal in shade 1! I eventually found it in Liverpool but it's been so difficult to track down. I guess that just goes to show how popular it has been. I can't believe I ever forgot about Benefit Boi-ing as well, it has done wonders for me recently :) x
