Top 5 Winter Essentials

Hi everyone,

Now the weather has turned really cold here in the UK there are a few products that I just can’t live without. My skin gets so dry in the winter and my hands and lips especially often crack and get really sore. It has taken me years of trials and errors to get the right products to help but here are a list of my top 5 winter must haves!

1)  Lush Lip Scrub

As I mentioned my lips are one of the first areas to feel the effect of the cold weather. I suffer with chapped lips all year round really but as soon as winter draws in they get even worse and I have to make a special effort to keep them in tip top condition. The Lush lip scrub is brilliant and contains a mixture of caster sugar and jojoba oil to exfoliate and moisturise lips to leave them feeling super soft.

2)  Bite Agave Lip Mask

Once I have used the Lush lip scrub I like to slather on some of this lip mask from Bite. There are very few lip balms or treatments that seem to work well on me or having a lasting effect but the Bite Agave Lip Mask works wonders. It has quite a thick consistency and you have to really rub it in but it hydrates my lips so well and makes them feel lovely and soft again.

3)  Soap and Glory Endless Glove

Other than my lips, my hands are another area that really takes a hit in the cold weather. I have often had hands that are so chapped that they are cracked and bleeding and as you can imagine it just feels awful. The Soap and Glory Endless Glove hand mask is thicker than your average hand cream and you are meant to wear it overnight with gloves to keep the moisture locked in. I tend not to bother with the gloves as they just bug me but it works fine without them and I wake up in the morning with much nicer and softer hands!

4)  Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clarifying Lotion or Neutrogena Visibly Different Pink Grapefruit Daily Scrub

A good exfoliator is especially important in winter and I like to mix between Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions and Neurogena Visibly Different which is a bit gentler. Both work really well though and can be used daily to keep any dry patches at bay and leave a good, smooth base for applying makeup.

5)  Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream

Once I have exfoliated I apply my moisturiser to keep my skin hydrated throughout the day. I like this one from Clarins as it also fights against early signs of aging by improving the appearance of any early lines and also preventing further wrinkles from developing. There is also a night cream to go with this moisturiser but having tried it out I felt the two together was a bit much for my skin.

I’d love to hear which products you can't be without in winter so please leave any recommendations in the comments below! Have you tried any of the products I have mentioned? If you have what did you think of them?

Thanks for reading,

Hannah xx

  1. I am torned in between purchasing Nuxe lip balm and this BITE Beauty lip mask, have you tried Nuxe? If yes, then which do you prefer out of the two?

  2. @Shireen L. Platt I haven't tried the Nuxe one so I can't compare unfortunately. All I can say is that for me the Bite lip mask is one of the very few products that really helps my lips and seems to have longer term benefits as well x
