Hi everyone!
So this might seem a little strange
but for my birthday my boyfriend’s sister bought me an advent calendar! Now I
can hear you all asking ‘why?’, but there is a story around this one and a
reason behind it. Before Christmas I had wanted a beauty advent calendar and
had my eye on this one from Ciaté and the Benefit offering as well. However, I
just couldn’t bring myself to part with the money for one, especially as I am
meant to be saving up for our holiday to New York later this year. Then the
Ciaté Mini Manor went into the sale at TKMaxx after Christmas and I was
tempted to buy it again but managed to resist.
I think as I had ummed and ahhed about
it so much my boyfriend’s sister decided to buy it for me for my birthday with
the idea that I can use it to count down to my week off work at the end of
February. I thought this was such a good idea and although it has been a bit
strange opening an advent calendar this side of Christmas, it has also been a
really fun way to count down to my holiday from work.
So far I have really liked all the
polishes and glitters that I have found behind each door but my favourites so
far have got to be Members Only and Sloany Sweetie. Members Only is a shimmery peach,
nude shade which is fairly sheer so you do need about three coats to really get
the colour to show through. I think it is such a classy looking polish though
and great if you want a sophisticated and more understated look.
Sloany Sweetie is a stranded glitter
polish that has a pink and gold shimmer to it. As I wasn’t feeling very
understated today I decided to paint this over the top of Members Only and
think the two look fab together. It wasn’t as ‘in your face’ as I thought it
might be and I still think it looks quite classy but with a bit extra sparkle.
This polish is really packed with glitter so you only need one coat if you’re
applying it over another colour or you could build it up with a few coats to
get a really glitzy finish.
I can’t wait to see which Ciaté
polishes I find behind the rest of the doors and it has been such a nice little
treat to wake up to a new polish every day!
What do you think of this nail varnish
combo? Which other Ciaté nail polishes would you recommend?
Thanks for reading,
Hannah xx
This is actually a great idea. I also wanted this advent calendar but couldn't justify the price, especially since I already own hundreds of polish. My Mum bought me the W7 one at Christmas :) x

First of all, I salute your self restraint, I need to learn from you as I have zero. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of advent calendar, only found out what it is when I arrive Canada, had no idea about it when I was in Malaysia.

@Kate Musgrove That was another reason I didn't get it myself, I have so many polishes I really don't need anymore! xx
ReplyDelete@jasmine turner I love it! I'm definitely going to want another at Christmas now though :) xx
ReplyDelete@Shireen L. Platt Haha I usually have no restraint at all but I think part of it was that I didn't get chance to go and pick one up on my lunch hour! I love having advent calendars, it's a nice little treat having something to open each day :) xx
ReplyDelete@Marie Sanderson Thank you :) I must admit the glitter ones aren't my favourite. I got the first one a couple of days ago and was disappointed that it was just glitter rather than a glitter polish xx
ReplyDeleteI love the Ciaté advent calendars, I resisted last year as I was still working through their previous one! I loved their Dragonfly collection, especially Empress. Oh and their Haute House collection!
